A June visit of Punta Cana is something you should consider carefully, as it is the alghae (sargazo) season. The beach was full of mountains of it and it indeed smelled dreadfully. (Strong wind is a constant companion no matter the season) Local staff tried slowly, uneffectivelly and manually to rake it, which was an impossible battle. We are normally beach lovers, but this forced us to stay by the pool. The hotel itself is nice and pleasant, unlike its reception staff. We stayed in the first villa from the beach, overlooking a nice quiet pool, with the small waterpark pool on a side. It was an excellent room, the only downsize was the tiny bathroom and its shower. The water flooded all the bathroom each time, just bad design. Housekeeping made a great job, all was kept spotless. The hotel grounds and gardens were well kept as well. The next door Iberostar Dominicana could have been used by the guests (not viceversa), we used it only for the kids club, which was ok. The food was very tasty, with smaller choice. The downsize was the seating area, which would have been great if it wasn't in the open air. Therefore no aircondition for dining guests, only humid hot. A la carte restaurants were a hit and miss. I wouldn't recommend the mediterranean one, but the asian with show was nice. I would recommend visiting this hotel between December-April, as the beach had a great size, was less crowded and located in a nice bay along the more luxurious Iberostar next door (this one not accessible by the guests of Iberostar Selection). I cannot comment on the evening entertainment, but we indeed enjoyed the lovely seating area, the drinks, the food, the pools and the overall atmosphere.
