Ruttger's Bay Lake Resort

Resort was great if you don’t plan on dining at their restaurant. We chose to stay here for our golden anniversary. First night we were turned away from the restaurant and bar because it was reserved & rented out. It would have been ok except we were then again turned away on Saturday because of a private wedding. We payed full price for not a full resort experience. We were never informed at check in. Pretty disappointed overall. Our $75 credit didn’t make up for our wedding anniversary. We chose here and won’t again. Great memories for our golden. Not!

Quintessential lake vacation. Pools were very nice. Billy- from the beach cabana answered all our questions and had great stories. Beach and docks are accessible and fun. Too windy to use one of the various boats available. Breakfast in the restaurant was tasty with friendly servers. Room in the lodge was basic but nice. Great for families or a get away.

Spacious room, clean, great heating. Nice setup. Friendly staff.

I was recently up there for a friend’s 40th birthday. We had the best experience renting from Bill Roemer with FI Home Group. He made sure our weekend was perfect. The accommodations were wonderful. The kitchen was fully stocked with all you would need to cook a meal. The living area is very comfortable and spacious. Plenty of room for a dance party! The bedrooms have plenty of room for four people. The beds and pillows are so comfortable I felt like I was at home. I would recommend staying there. We are planning on coming back!

Stayed at the new golf villas.. Amazing building and location.. The beds are all kings and each room as there own bathroom. Upstairs loft is a cool feature

If you are planning a stay triple check final cost. We were supposed to get two emails with two grand totals. One email got lost in cyberspace and we did not know this till we checked out. Our grand total for the stay increased significantly at checkout. Why they couldn’t put it all in one email confirmation I still don’t understand. Or follow up those confirmation emails with an email letting you know the final grand total. Not form emails with no information on rooms or links to details. Up until that point we may have considered a return trip. Rooms were okay, we had a leaky dishwasher and shower, a ripped screen on the screen porch and the air conditioning was difficult to manage for one unit. Goose poop on the par 3 course kept us from using it more. We were in North Bay Condos and there is no basic housekeeping such as garbage/recycle pick up and fresh towels every 3rd day. The variety of activities was great but there is a busy county road that goes through the resort so crossing can get scary. A manicure was gifted to someone but they couldn’t get computer to process it so the “gift” was no more. The dining room is noisy and hard to have conversation but the food was good. The one star is because of the surprise “grand” total on check out. Turned a pretty good week into a big disappointment. When a manager finally called to discuss they were not rude but they were dismissive of our concerns.

We were extremely disappointed with our recent experience at Ruttger’s Resort. We had reserved a brand-new two-bedroom king unit, which was advertised as being completed before our stay. Just four days prior to our arrival, we received a call informing us that the unit would not be available due to the resort’s inability to get the power company on-site in time. As a result, we were offered the only remaining option—a one-bedroom “rustic” cabin. Unfortunately, what we encountered upon arrival was far from acceptable. The cabin was not just rustic—it was outdated, poorly maintained, and full of cobwebs. Most alarming of all, we discovered bed bugs in the bedroom. At that point, we had no choice but to pack up and leave immediately. We contacted the front desk and were told that no manager was available but that someone would follow up. It took three days before we heard back. While we did receive an apology and a refund, there was no real effort to make things right or acknowledge the seriousness of the situation—especially considering it was our first visit to Ruttger’s. When we informed them about the bed bugs, the only response from management was, “We need to update our maintenance protocol.” We understand that unforeseen issues can arise, but the lack of timely communication, the unacceptable condition of the alternate accommodation, and the minimal response from management fell well below our expectations—especially given the resort’s reputation and pricing for peak season.

Stick to hamburgers and pizza in restaurant. I tried the Shrimp and lobster pasta: grim.
