The museum is an interesting little place full of fun and interactive stuff for kids too. Well maintained and easy to follow. In general a good place to visit with children. The need to 200 characters means I have to write this but which is silly

Spending a couple of days in a historic cottage was fantastic, the modern inclusions a bonus. We stayed in one of the Boatman’s cottages constructed in 1860 which features a separate bedroom, lounge, dining room/kitchen and bathroom, the gas fire in the lounge kept us toasty warm as did the wall heaters in bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom. The whole precinct was a joy to stay in as was the surrounding village of Low Head. The on site cafe had very good meals. We loved the ability to order a heat and serve pre-prepared meal which was waiting in the cottage for us, we ordered the Moroccan Lamb Tagine which was succulent and delicious. Would definitely stay again.

We loved the location of the Pilot’s Cottage/House at Low Head. Check in was easy through the machine at the Cafe, however, the sign on the house says Pilot’s Cottage, and our key said Pilots House. As there were many different forms of accommodation at this property, I would have liked the key to match the sign as we were tired from our travels. We were freezing and as our luggage had not made the flight to Tasmania with us, only had the clothes on our backs. My husband is an electrician, and could not get the air con/reverse cycle to heat. There are no fireplaces in this house either. It is a LARGE house with a lot of bedrooms. I can’t imagine staying here in winter without heat. It actually detracted from our experience. Thank goodness the bed had electric blankets. The fridge was stocked with our requests from the provisions. Thank you.

We chose the Queenslander for 3 nights stay as it was in the wine region and right on Bass Strait. We stayed in Winter and it certainly was rugged and windy which we enjoyed. The onsite café was not open during our stay so we were aware we would need to provision ourselves but we did get a breakfast basket included for our first morning which was on the table after we collected the key via a security box. This is a very large and very old house with the bathroom by the entry door and the 4 bedrooms down a hallway beyond the kitchen. There was an extra powder room in the hallway. The house has central heating so it was very warm but it would have been nice to be able to light the fire in the fireplace. This isn't an option. The house has an old world charm but it is more rustic than luxurious and they have used minimal decor and details. The view over Bass Strait and the mouth of the Tamar river from the wrap around balcony was amazing but the windows in the house itself are small (classic of the era). The walk to the beach just down the hill was very picturesque and there was quite a lot of wildlife around. You are quite isolated out here except for the tourists visiting the lighthouse on the hill next door. It was quiet during June. Bill gave us some good recommendations of restaurants to go to via email before we arrived and they were good but about 30mins drive away. We had a couple of issues, including a field mouse and the bathroom shower drain blocking up, which we were told was probably a plumbing issue rather than a blocked drain on check out. I would recommend it but I am not sure I would stay again.

We have wanted to stay here for some time and it didn’t disappoint. The cottage was excellent all bar the couch was uncomfortable but this was a small inconvenience. The setting was fabulous.

A gorgeous location with quite dated accommodation. If you are expecting a modern stay this is not the accommodation for you. It is a dated kitchen with basic amenities and an older-style stove. The reading room overlooking the lighthouse and water is stunning and worth the stay for that alone. The room configuration is not designed for more than one family (rooms are close together, zero soundproofing, small rooms etc.) so recommend either one family or very very close friends (no young children). The price point is reasonable and check in/ service was friendly.

We absolutely loved how different and unusual staying at a light house was. The wildlife were gorgeous and having the beach right at our backdoor was awesome. Anita was easy to contact at all times. I have already been asked by a few people how they can stay there. Thanks for an amazing 3 days. Krissy,Nat and Julie!
