It was a good stay overall. My only negative feedback was loud construction noise that occurred from 8 am to 5 pm daily due to the building renovations and expansions.

Check in was simple since I had prepaid for my stay. there is a nice rooftop bar and restaurant where you can overlook the city. the room was comfortable, but the AC sometimes was a little noisy, but I just turned it off when the room was at a good temperature.

We stayed at this hotel twice on our vacation. Our first and last nights in Belize. We were offered and accepted airport transportation for a reasonable fee which was great and on time. The property itself is very nice. The rooms are spotless and the beds and pillows were great. The WIFI was free and fast. There is a department store of sorts located adjacent to the hotel which has lots of handy items and even souvenirs. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. The roof top restaraunt is also very nice and worth a visit. The only down side to the entire place was the ongoing construction on one side of the hotel. That is unavoidable to be sure but both nights we were given rooms on the "construction side" of the hotel that had workers right outside our window.
Maybe it was completely full and could not be helped but that was disappointing. The staff informed us of the upgrades coming with the construction and it will make a very nice place even better. Lastly and important to us, this property was a very walkable distance to the Belize City-San Pedro water taxi. Overall, the Golden Bay Hotel is very nice and was nearly perfect for us.

Stayed here after arrival and before catching ferry to the Cayes. Nice accommodations. Not as close to ferry terminal as you would think! Half mile walk with suitcases over very uneven surfaces (not easy with rolling bag) to ferry. Belize City is scary so we ate dinner at hotel and then again in ferry terminal before we left. Servers at restaurant were nice but lacked training. Food was about the same variety and quality as everywhere else (the same curry, fritters, pasta, pork on every menu in town, lol!)
