Immersed in nature and a stone’s throw away from the mouth of the cave, this hotel is really unique. It’s peaceful and friendly, with the constant log fire burning and honesty bar, you feel more like you are staying in a home. Staff are so accommodating. This place is great for events or a group booking, a great place to wind down and recharge. New refurbished bathrooms are great and the bed has fixed my back! Can’t wait to be back soon

We booked in this expensive hotel, but we were not informed in advance of the inconvenience, disruption, noise level at night due to a film crew making a film. Had we been warned in advance we would have changed the dates of our stay. When we complained as to the fact that the hotel should not have taken our booking on the days in question, we were offered one night stay free of charge. We travelled a bit far and staying one night would not be satisfactory as apart from long distance travel, we would have had to register in the hotel at 3pm and left the next morning by 11am. Hardly worth the bother. When raised the issue with the hotel proprietor, Miguel, he was not helpful, arrogant and patronising and would not at least give us 2 nights stay to compensate for long distance travel. The hotel is badly run, apart from breakfast and room cleaning there is no staff all queries on line! If you do not wish to use your smart phone to open you room, etc, don’t stay in this hotel. Not value for money with limited service although advertised as relaxing, peaceful and ‘atuned’ with nature, the hotel is very unsympathetic and visitors to the cave opposite means continuous disruption. Save your money and don’t stay in this hotel.

We stayed 6 nights. From the moment we made the reservation, a full month before we were getting WhatsApp messages asking us to do what the called a “fast check in” and is in fact a virtual check in. Once done, they give you codes and keyless access to the property and the rooms. I really question the wisdom of this as far as security is concerned. We were also asked to to tell them what time we were going to have breakfast!! Keep in mind breakfast is pretty much self serve, except for the drinks. In years of travel we had never run into this. When we arrived we realized that they have no reception desk or personnel. All queries are fielded through the same WhatsApp number that repeatedly asked us to to the fast check in. When we arrived we noticed that the large garbage bin in front of our room was overflowing. We mentioned this to the staff that serves breakfast ( they also clean the rooms) and the took care of it right away. The 3 on site staff members were very, very nice and tried to be as accommodating as possible. When we asked to use their refrigerator to store drinks and salads for the evenings as the rooms do not gave refrigerators, they were very happy to. They would ask us every day if we wanted to have our rooms cleaned. They say that they ask because of Covid. I felt that it was really to try and manage a workload that they did not have enough personnel to manage. While the room was always neat we didn’t get the sense that it was cleaned, particularly the bathroom. There were a couple of days that you clearly saw that it had not been cleaned properly. You also could see accumulated dust on the inside of the door of the room and various tell tale signs that they hadn’t done much more than straightening the room. On the third night of our stay the owner decided to have a birthday party for his small son or daughter on the terrace of the hotel. All the rooms windows face directly onto to that terrace. That terrace is right off the hotel dining room. The party started some time around 6:30 in the afternoon at 11:00 at night there were still children screaming and people having loud conversations. We contacted the person at the WhatsApp number to ask if they knew how much longer the party was going to be. The information posted in the room clearly says that dinner ends at 10:30. The lady who answers the WhatsApp apologized and said it would be over soon and she must’ve contacted someone because, a very short while later the people all left. The next day we were given a jar of jam as an apology. We would also notice people at the pool who weren’t staying at the hotel, which seemed odd.The rooms are nicely decorated, the surrounding area is quite pretty. The staff tries their best, but all in all I think that the management is poor, at best. Would not recommend for what they charge. I think that they could really improve.

Our stay at Hotel Cueva del Gato was incredible, the rural setting along with the very kind staff made a wonderful stay. Their organic food grown from the gardens was delicious, highly recommend this authentic gem in the Spanish mountains.
