Ich hatte im September für eine Gruppe 3 Zimmer reserviert, mit Frühstück und Abendessen - dies machte zusammen einen stattlichen Betrag aus. Zimmer und Essen waren in Ordnung. Leider hatte ich mein Handy-Ladegerät in meinem Zimmer vergessen. Nach telefonischem Rückruf wurde mir dies bestätigt und selbstverständlich würde man mir dieses gerne zuschicken (hatte ich gar nicht nach gefragt, hätte es evtl. selbst abgeholt). Daraufhin wurde mir dieses als Paket mit einer Rechnung von 9,90 ! Euro zugesandt. Natürlich habe ich die Rechnung beglichen, finde es aber sehr enttäuschend und bedauerlich, dass dies nicht als selbstverständliche Serviceleistung gesehen wird (in Anbetracht der zuvor geleisteten Hotel-Rechnung) und zudem noch total überteuert (eine Warensendung oder Brief hätte auch genügt). Ich werde dies in Zukunft bedenken.

Wir sind für eine Übernachtung wegen eines Termins in der Nähe gekommen und haben unerwartet ein Kleinod für uns entdeckt. Am etwas nüchternen Empfang würde für uns zwar kein roter Teppich ausgerollt, aber wir wurden erwartet und der Check in erfolgte schnell und professionell. Größere Menschen sollten keine Zimmer im 2. Stock reservieren, Dachschrägen können der Romantik nach einem Zusammenstoß mit dem Kopf schnell ein Ende bereiten im ansonsten schönen Zimmer und Bad. Im hervorragenden Bett haben wir sehr gut geschlafen. Der Besuch im Restaurant hat uns voll überzeugt. Ambiente, Personal, Speisen und Getränke haben voll überzeugt und laden zu einem weiteren Besuch ein.

Everything was great. A successful weekend stay with perfect hosts. The hotel with its beautiful rooms surprised us in a very positive way. The evening visit to the restaurant was simply great...food at a Michelin star level and a wine list with around 500 items that is second to none. We will be back very soon!

What makes a romantic hotel? The location on a busy road? The unkempt grounds? The view from the window of an overgrown area, rotting wooden pallets and junk? The unengaged, extremely curt reception? The loveless breakfast buffet with hard, cold eggs, cheese and sausage at discount store level and sugary industrial jam? Our room was functional, simply furnished, clean, the minibar was empty. No romance anywhere, but a passable place to stay if you have to stay overnight in Sayn and eat somewhere else. Too expensive for what is not offered.

We cannot recommend either the hotel or the restaurant, as there are much more exciting alternatives for this price. Restaurant: Staff were very friendly (except for the restaurant manager, who was arrogant and not service-oriented). The food was OK, but unfortunately lukewarm and the cheapest dishes on the menu were served as part of our surprise menu, which we found unacceptable. The location was romantic, but unfortunately a bit 'shabby'. The room was OK, too, but far too sober and simply furnished for a 'romantic' hotel, all a real shame....

We had booked a night at Villa Sayn for a stopover on the way to Switzerland. The house was certainly quite good at one point, but it is now showing its age. The location on the street is not so great either, we didn't sleep well. But what made up for everything was the restaurant. Great atmosphere, a great team (especially the "Maitre & Sommelier") and great food as well as great local wines. Last but not least, you can tell how good a team really is by the way guests with fur are treated. A lovely evening!
