Joe & Miriam (sp?) were very friendly and engaging hosts. We went to the Caracol Mayan site and also did a boat/swimming/waterfall tour. Joe is very knowledgeable about Mayan ruins. He is most enthusiastic about showing you his native country. Miriam is a great cook. We thoroughly enjoyed our jungle experience.

We had a wonderful time at Martz Farm, a beautiful place hidden away in the jungle. Miriam and Joe were great hosts, providing excellent food, interesting conversation, and the best day of our whole trip on the Jungle Pontoon Cruise. Our 9 year old son loved staying in the Treehouse while our teenage girls preferred the walls of the lovely Garden Cabin. We only stayed two nights but wished we'd stayed longer. Thanks Miriam and Joe for a fantastic experience.

The food, atmosphere and kindness were spectacular. It's a long bumpy road to get there and they require a two night stay. We rode motorcycles to get there, but once there there isn't really anything close to explore on bikes , so our bikes sat for a day and took the boat tour that is offered there of the lake. It was worth the money. we really enjoyed it an would recommend it. I would give this place a 10 except that it requires a 2 night booking . Overall it was well worth the stay an experience! They are great people

Our family of 4 (with 6 and 8 y/o kids) had such a lovely time at Martz Farm! We stayed at a few amazing destinations in Belize (a beautiful resort on Hummingbird Hwy, a great hotel on Caye Caulker), but Martz Farm was our family favorite place to stay, and it is the destination we will probably most remember for years to come! And it's the destination I hope to come back to someday - I wish we had scheduled more time here. We had a great time sleeping out in the beautiful jungle treehouse (over a stream), hearing and seeing the howler monkeys at night, kids loved watching the leaf-cutter ants doing their thing and playing with the Martz family dogs, spider monkeys swing through the trees on the property... Sleeping outside in the jungle treehouse, for me, felt deeply calmly and connecting - I think it especially had to do with being out in the wild. I was a bit afraid of bugs before coming, but we didn't see a single mosquito or spider while there or get any mosquito bites (maybe a combo of the dry season in Belize, and probably also due to how well kept the Martz Farm property is). And Joe and Miriam were wonderful people to get to know! Miriam's cooking was great (one of my daughters said Miriam's fry jacks were a highlight of the whole trip, haha) and it was the safest I felt while traveling regarding my daughter's food allergies (usually a source of anxiety and risk for us when traveling to another country). We highly recommend horseback riding with Joe! It was both my daughter's first time on a horse, and Joe was skillful teaching them to ride, tying my little ones horse to his. It was a beautiful ride through the forest (muddy trail conditions that Joe helped my LO's navigate through) to some great views. Joe pointed out and had us try so many herbs he found in the jungle, taught us about the Mayan roots in the jungle, medicinal plants, pointed out wildlife, and conveyed such a deep respect for nature and people that I hope seeped into my little ones...

I placed Joe first in the subject title because he made the pontoon adventure a day to remember. He is the definition of a pure sole. With humour, poetry and heartfelt conversation, the vistas of the river and falls made for a day to remember. The farm is lovely with friendly dogs, happy cows and horses that are clean and well cared for. We had an early dinner prepared by Joe's wife - "Master Chef" Miriam. It was a thoughtful and delicious presentation of vegetarian food. We would have eaten on the farm everyday had we stayed at the lodge or close by. All in all, I would highly recommend a day experience with Martz Farm tours.

The highlight of our entire trip to Belize. Get ready to feel nourished and amazed. Miriam made delicious foods that accommodated my dietary restrictions, and Jose showed us the wonders of the jungle and rivers in Belize. Our stay could not have been better!

I don't know how to adequately describe the riches of our family visit to the Martz Farm. It was a thoroughly remarkable and unforgettable stay with Jose and Miriam. My husband, our 2 adult children and I had a 5 night visit packed with wonder and joy. We took full advantage of the excursions that were offered and the meal plan. Each day Miriam fed us delicious hand-prepared meals (including the breads, tortillas, fried jacks, juices etc.) like we were family, and took special care to accommodate our daughter's medically necessary dietary restrictions, which is no easy task. She also packed hearty lunches for the excursions on the river, on the horses and in the caves. We spent lots of time together sharing stories and interesting conversations. While she kept the home fires burning, Jose was a tour guide extraordinaire! He taught us so much about the flora, fauna and rich history in the area. There wasn't a single question he couldn't answer and offered to share his vast knowledge joyfully (and amusingly). He personifies the description "renaissance man" and even treated us to recitations of his folksy and insightful poetry. We had many deeply moving experiences on the road with Jose. Don't miss the trip to Tikal with all travel arrangements orchestrated by Miriam and Jose. It was flawless, too. After leaving for additional travels in Belize, a day didn't go by where we didn't reflect on the astonishing experiences we enjoyed while there. There is really too much to report, so suffice it to say that I would encourage anyone that loves the outdoors and has an adventurous spirit, to treat yourself to the experience of a lifetime. We are still basking in the memories (always will) and hope to visit again.

We spent three days at Martz Farm and had a wonderful experience. Miriam and Joe were fantastic hosts and couldn't have done any more to make us welcome and comfortable. We had a memorable trip on the lake and climbing waterfalls and our daughters absolutely loved the many friendly dogs and cats that live on the farm. Yes it's a bit of a drive from Belize City along some bumpy roads, but that was well worth it. Our youngest daughter says she wants to go back and work there one day :-) Thank you Miriam and Joe for being so welcoming and giving us such a great experience!
