Charles met us as soon as we drove in. He explained the code for the door and then took us to our room. Our room and the house in general were wonderfully clean and tidy. He explained the lights in the room and went through the local restaurants and their positive points. He went into detail about the attractions of the area. He was very upbeat and excited to share his and Rebecca’s experiments with berry growing. He reminded us that breakfast would be at 9. For breakfast Rebecca made pastries in small casseroles. She told us about her Mennonite neighbor who quilts by hand. We had a lively conversation over breakfast. The next morning they accommodated our need to eat breakfast a half-hour earlier. Rebecca made two delicious frittatas. We had 2 restful evenings, 2 wonderful breakfasts and were guided to some interesting Penn Yan locales. We even bought an apricot jam Charles makes and a sturdy Los Gatos Mug. I highly recommend Los Gatos. In addition to the 3 rooms in the house there are 2 cabins for rent. We didn’t stay in them, but we had a tour of them, and they are clean, spacious and tastefully decorated.
