Alpenresidenz Buchenhohe

The environment is very good! When I checked in at 18:30, the waiter got off work early, put the key in the locker, and gave me the email password.

I booked a room with a garden view for three nights, but was disappointed. The room did not have any garden view and faced the mountain. If I hadn't moved from the first floor to the third floor, the room on the third floor had a small skylight, and even the weather outside Do not know at all. Good room types are not provided on Ctrip. 1,500 a night is not cheap. We can only play outside during the day and go back to sleep. The price of breakfast is 13.9, not 9.8. For reference. Less good: We lived in house C. There were several stairs up to house C and inside the house, unfortunately there was no elevator. Very good: The bathroom was newly renovated and fresh. The breakfast was great. In the house next door was a restaurant with good and plentiful food.

In a small village with one restaurant. This was clearly stated to us at check-in, but the place was fully booked when we went to ask for a table. A mountainous journey to the nearest small lake. Close to Kotkanpesä, so it was a good fit for our route. Breakfast scanty but sufficient.

Buchenhöhe is on the Obersalzberg, a steep winding road away from Berchtesgaden and with a view of the Kehlsteinhaus. Next to a huge youth hostel whose residents occasionally think they have to attract attention with annoying beatboxing, there is a wonderfully quiet area with a beautiful view. The Alpenresidenz and the Holzkäfer restaurant are the only hostels, and also the only tourist infrastructure, apart from a small corner shop opposite. So if you want to eat dinner and don't want to go to the Holzkäfer, there are no alternatives within walking distance. The Alpenresidenz is only partly a hotel, most of the rooms with a mountain view have been sold and most of the rooms that were not sold because they do not have a mountain view are rented out as hotel residences. Smart. The building has been newly renovated and the furnishings are accordingly modern. This time we had an attic apar**ent, which seemed a bit claustrophobic because it was very dark, but after three days we found the remote control on the floor under the bed to open the Velux roof windows and raise the blinds - that made it much better. Otherwise, the complex has no facilities such as wellness, pool, fitness or even a lounge area, at least the latter no longer after reception closes at 6 p.m. There are also no guided hikes or similar. The staff were very friendly and committed throughout, which is especially true of the manager, who also has very good tips for tours. Breakfast costs extra, is very varied and worth the money. Housekeeping is not at the level of a hotel but mostly OK. Mattresses OK, if a bit hard, linen a bit basic, classic catering service (better blankets, better towels would have been nice). Furnishings functional, a bit spartan. Amenities weak, ancient, fused, weak hair dryers and cheap shampoo/soap. Wifi performs well. TV modern and large. Unfortunately no vending machine, minibar or similar - at least a vending machine would be nice. Hygiene rules are very strictly adhered to. Overall, this time, our second visit, we were a bit dissatisfied with the price/performance ratio. The price was too high for what the hotel offers.

The location is great, very quiet. The rooms are spacious. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Some details could be improved: the balcony was not cleaned, there were cobwebs and cigarette ash everywhere. There was only one sachet of shower gel per person - so it was best to bring some with you. There were no other hygiene products.

After a warm welcome, we discovered our apar**ent, which we liked for its size and its cleanliness (although the carpet forced me to take antihistamines all week). The decoration is not exceptional, a bit like a hospital room, but overall it is adequate. The big downside is the noise! Very poor soundproofing, so you have to agree to sleep when the neighbors decide…. Same for waking up. Concerning the reception, the only interaction we had with a manager was deplorable; The last day, leaving early, we had a quick breakfast, and not having much appetite at that time, I wanted to leave with 2 rolls. This was pointed out to me. So, the weather for me, not pleasant but I accept the remark. The big surprise, VERY unpleasant, was when paying for the week, that is to say 7 nights and 21 breakfasts. The manager tried, without telling us!!, to add a 22nd breakfast for us! For 2 buns! This process having clearly shocked us, we told him that we would not fail to make our first negative review on Tripadvisor. This motivated him to remove this addition to the bill, while speaking in German with his colleagues in front of us, and despite our level of German, it was clearly insulting. Following that, no response to our goodbye! In short, we do not recommend this hotel.
