Hotels Near Eidsvåg Church in Bergen

Stayed when: August 2022 - 5 nights, party of 4 (booked a corner suite which comprised 2 rooms with a common entrance) Location: Excellent; key areas/attractions were walking distance (10 minute walk from train station) Rooms: The first room was large whereas the 2nd room was quite small. Not sure if the bed in the 2nd room would qualify as a double bed. The rooms are nicely done up. Breakfast: Good breakfast. However hot beverages such as cappuccino etc not part of the breakfast package. Have to be paid for separately. Not an issue but found it strange/petty for a hotel like this. Gym: Small but functional. Gives the impression that not much thought has gone into it. Two issues - first was lack of ventilation and second was no drinking water available Service: While the staff was polite and helpful, we faced some service issues. The lock on the main door to the corner suite (leading up to the 2 rooms) was not working. Despite requesting the reception staff several times to have it fixed, the problem was not solved. In the end, we gave up and just kept the doors to the two rooms locked (which somewhat defeated the objective of getting a corner suite). Also, were surprised to see the rooms hadn’t been cleaned one day. Found out the rooms are not serviced daily unless one puts up the room service sign on the door. We should have been informed of this at the time of check-in. Other: We had the windows open for ventilation during the night. As a result, our sleep was disturbed all the nights because of noise from outside (saw lots of college students all over Bergen who would be partying late into the night / early morning). Overall: Nice, charming hotel. While we had no major complaints, unlikely we will consider this hotel again because of the above service/small issues.

A great welcome will await you at Hotel No 13. The staff are all very helpful although special thanks go to Lena who made our stay second to none. The hotel is in a great location in a pedestrianised square in central Bergen not far from the light rail terminus. It’s also close to some great restaurants and bars but at the same time, very quiet. Finally, the breakfast. The choice and quality of the offering is amazing. I cannot recommend this hotel too highly and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there on my next visit to Bergen.

I chose Scandic because I have had good experiences in the past. However, this stay has been quite horrible. After a long journey to the North Cape and back again, it was important for me to get a good night's sleep before the journey home to Denmark. Already when I/we checked in, many young people arrived with full plastic bags with clinking bottles and large speakers in tow. I wondered, but thought maybe they should go ahead and have a party. I was completely wrong there. The party was held at the Scandic hotel from early evening to early morning. There was running in the corridors, shouting and screaming, banging on pipes, doors slamming continuously, and there was partying and noise that only really drunk people can make. I and others contacted reception who unfortunately could not deal with them. I also think that one or two receptionists cannot handle 20 maybe 25 very drunk young people. In the morning told the young female receptionist that when they complained about a room, the party just moved to a new room. She was very kind and apologized many times. Friendly and sweet service. Immediately, I think that the police should have been called if the party didn't stop. Me and my 2 fellow travelers were refunded DKK 400 for our rooms... But honestly, I think it would have been appropriate to give us the full amount back. Never before have I had such an experience in a hotel.

Finding hotel from the cruise terminal was not too difficult but further to walk than anticipated. It is an unusual hotel with no reception just a coded registration and issue of room keys. Arriving at 10:00 had expected to just leave our cases but found we had access to our room. Knew there was no breakfast included but it was difficult to even get a drink of coffee in the communal area as machine was out of order. Room was clean, light and airy and functional but bed was a bit soft for my liking. Although on second floor above the street there was no noise. Shower enclosure was quite small and door did not seal resulting in a flooded floor. Check out was straightforward and all electronic. Never saw any staff to ask questions.

First off, if you're thinking of going to Bergen, DO IT! The city is gorgeous and the Fjord tours that depart are also amazing. Second, the Moxy is a fine choice. It is affordable and appears to be new (so it's not run down). The brand is definitely trying hard to be fun, but overall it succeeds well enough for me. The rooms are a bit small, but sufficient. The hotel is a bit far from the main area, but you can take a nearby tram (Florida stop I believe) or just walk. We walked and I want to say it was a 20 -30 minute stroll. Doable. Similarly, you can take the train/tram from the airport to the hotel. There are a few restaurants very close to the hotel, but they were just okay. However, the hotel's snacks were themselves surprisingly good.

On the other side of the old city, you can walk over, it takes about 20 minutes, you can also take the bus. We arranged the room on the second floor for us. The result was that we had to go down the stairs on the third floor. It was too inconvenient for us to carry the big box. Although the breakfast is not many varieties, the quality is very good.

The room is larger than expected. There is no TV refrigerator, but there is a hair dryer, towels and bath supplies. Very clean, the bed is a bit too soft, friends who don't like soft beds should consider it. The location of the hotel takes about half an hour to walk to the city center. My friends and I like walking, so it’s not a problem at all, but if you don’t like walking and don’t want to spend money on rides all the time, then you should think carefully!

The platonic ideal of hostelling, encapsulated in a friendly, spacious, welcoming and clean reality. The volunteer organised activities were very special and made it easy to meet and chat to other guests in a relaxed way. We would never have found the fjord-viewing sauna on our own - although these are only advertised ~12 hours in advance making it tricky to plan ahead. There was a plentiful and good quality communal breakfast every day included in the price. The guest kitchen and restaurant also provided appealing evening meal options with the Bunnpris supermarket around the corner open until 9 most days (closed on Sundays). The view from the hostel itself is exceptional and the location provides easy access to trails linking to the seven peaks of Bergen. The Floyen - Ulriken hike was well worth the effort. The big plus of this hotel is that it is a 4-5 minute walk from the airport. Because of that easy access to public transportation into the city. The room was quiet and I didn't notice airport noise. Room was clean and modern, but very small, spartan, and with few amenities. Beds were narrow with very soft mattresses. The breakfast was very good with a wide selection of items, though not exceptional. There were only two elevators in a hotel with four floors and hundreds of rooms! As others have noted, the staff is very young and seemed inexperienced, but friendly enough. All in all, like most airport hotels, you get little value for the price. The goal is a quick in and out with a decent breakfast for travelers, but not much more.
