Best Hotels near Bergen University Museum - Natural History, Bergen

The hotel is well located, not far from the beautiful historic Bryggen district and the sea station. The reception is welcome and attention. The room is well arranged, it is beautiful. The room is clean, well clean. A good breakfast is served every morning.

The room is larger than expected. There is no TV refrigerator, but there is a hair dryer, towels and bath supplies. Very clean, the bed is a bit too soft, friends who don't like soft beds should consider it. The location of the hotel takes about half an hour to walk to the city center. My friends and I like walking, so it’s not a problem at all, but if you don’t like walking and don’t want to spend money on rides all the time, then you should think carefully!

First off, if you're thinking of going to Bergen, DO IT! The city is gorgeous and the Fjord tours that depart are also amazing. Second, the Moxy is a fine choice. It is affordable and appears to be new (so it's not run down). The brand is definitely trying hard to be fun, but overall it succeeds well enough for me. The rooms are a bit small, but sufficient. The hotel is a bit far from the main area, but you can take a nearby tram (Florida stop I believe) or just walk. We walked and I want to say it was a 20 -30 minute stroll. Doable. Similarly, you can take the train/tram from the airport to the hotel. There are a few restaurants very close to the hotel, but they were just okay. However, the hotel's snacks were themselves surprisingly good.

All great. Modern design, good breakfast, great views. Little things: The shower has no curtain, so the toilet gets flooded after the shower. And there is no shelf for soap or shampoo in the shower - should put it all on the floor.

The hotel provides a wide selection for buffet breakfast, bed is comfortable, and location is perfect, just 3 mins walk from the train station. I arriv ed before check in timing 12+, they arranged me early check in without extra charge.

The historic building has some quirks but they were more than made up for by the very friendly staff. For example, one of our family rooms had a key card door opener that was faulty, so a staff member had to always open their door. Also, the very deep bathtub / shower may be hard for some people to safely step into, but we found the grab bars made this ok. The breakfast, mid afternoon waffles, and dinner were all good. The dinner had plenty of choices of a soup, salad fixings, bread, so this was nice on a rainy night when we decided not to venture out to dinner. The hotel is very attractive with an opulent feel, and the location, right at a corner of the Bryggen area, can’t be beat. On a rainy afternoon we could just go a few steps across the square th a good Museum of the Bryggen, which was very interesting. Our three boys ages 11 to 14 enjoyed this museum.

This is the first time I write a review while still being a guest at the hotel, lets start with the good things. The hotel has an excellent location, nice and newly renovated rooms and friendly staff. Breakfast was fine and had good variety as well. However, the upsetting part is that the bad things exceed the good ones. The hotel has a very loud bar/club on the ground floor and plays loud music even on weekdays until late at night, the loud music can be heard in the room. The bed isn’t comfortable, the one I had was used a lot probably and had an inside curve in the middle. The room service menu says that it’s available until 11 pm. However, if you try calling them after 10 pm nobody answers as the kitchen closes at 10 pm but its not written anywhere. They also charge for getting you tap water!! The reception desk, although they say its a 24hours desk, they wouldn’t pick up the phone if you call them after 10 pm. Once I asked for a fork at 10:15 pm the receptionist had to check if room service team would accept as the kitchen had already closed. And had to call the reception twice to get hold of them. The parking garage is operated by a third party, its very small and has probably spaces for 20-25 cars. So most probably it always full, in my case, the hotel staff asked me to go park my car in another public parking garage and walk back to the hotel. The housekeeping team doesn’t clean the room properly, I had hair in the bathroom and the shower drainage is blocked. I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights, this night is my last and I keep getting disappointed every night. I think the hotel has to offer better services and quality. You even have to greet the receptionist as they would answer by hello rather than “good evening” or “how can we help?” But that’s not important anyways. For the price I paid, I expected much better services from this hotel. I would definitely come back to Bergen, but never to this hotel, and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Its not a 5 star hotel according to the global standards. I wouldn’t even give it 3 stars.

The platonic ideal of hostelling, encapsulated in a friendly, spacious, welcoming and clean reality. The volunteer organised activities were very special and made it easy to meet and chat to other guests in a relaxed way. We would never have found the fjord-viewing sauna on our own - although these are only advertised ~12 hours in advance making it tricky to plan ahead. There was a plentiful and good quality communal breakfast every day included in the price. The guest kitchen and restaurant also provided appealing evening meal options with the Bunnpris supermarket around the corner open until 9 most days (closed on Sundays). The view from the hostel itself is exceptional and the location provides easy access to trails linking to the seven peaks of Bergen. The Floyen - Ulriken hike was well worth the effort. We arrived late evening and had to wait in the lobby for a good 40 minutes because the key system did not work. I felt bad for the receptionist that became so stressed he was swearing and saying sorry to us multiple times. He offered my man a bottle of water as it was included in the membership but we would have appreciated Mabe a glass of water for me as vell. After getting another employe to help out they got us to the room. Both very helpful and stressed. These things can happen we understand. The room had a view over the harbor and was clearly at the old part of the hotel not like the pictures of the hotel. Very high ceilings, but very dark. Not a lot of lighting in the room. The glasses in the room was dirty with lipstick stains so we had to take another trip down to the front desk. The bed was inviting even tho it was two single beds and not a double witch we expectedly have booked. Plus for robes and slippers. The bathroom was also old and it was very hard to find a livable temperature in the shower. Eigther super warm or freezing. Wee needed to sleep with the window open because of the room was quite warm and not well conditioned. The breakfast was ok, not really what I expected for a clarion hotel but I found options to my likings. The breakfast staff was nice. The best thing about the hotel was the location but all in all we will be choosing one of the other hotels in the city center the next time.
