The hostel is very dirty. All the surfaces are sticky. There is a terrible stench in the rooms, toilets, corridors and lobby. Things forgotten by the previous tenants are lying around until they are thrown away by the current tenants. Mattresses are stained with brown stains, possibly menstrual blood (I was in the women's room). The pillows are crumpled and terribly uncomfortable. The beds stand so you can't fully open the window to air it out. The lobby is very noisy and smelly too, apparently there is no ventilation or it is blocked. Absolutely not recommended, even for 25€ a night! It's too much for this place.

This B&B hotel is well-situated in Mitte, within an easy walk of shops (Alexa Mall), restaurants and transportation options. The room, though small, was well equipped and comfortable. Beds were comfy. Breakfasts were fresh and tasty though little variation from day to day. The only negative is that the hotel was also hosting multiple student groups who crowded the public areas, elevators and breakfast area and were often noisy and oblivious to their impact on other travellers. This was a daily annoyance during our 4 night stay.

This hotel has 5 room types, i booked an Executive apartment, which if the second top room type. I am a solo traveller, but liked the room layout and the extra space. I checked in on 30/03/22 for 3 nights and was allocated room 107. On opening the door i immediately thought it did not exactly resemble the pics i had seen for an Executive Apartment, it was big enough, but just not what i was expecting. The kitchen area was locked up with a shutter over it, which i thought strange. I literally just in the room for 5 minutes and went out exploring. I checked with reception about the kitchen being looked and they asked if i wanted it unlocked to use, yes, that's why i booked that room type, the fridge with freezer compartment for ice and cold drinks. I came back about 5 hours later and the kitchen was indeed unlocked. I was going to shower and looked for the bath robe and slippers which should be in the room, but nothing was there. it was at this point i was sure this was not the room type i had booked. I checked on my phone and looking at the specifications was sure i had been given the wrong room type. I went to reception to enquire and spoke to the duty manager, he printed off 2 pages to show the difference between an Executive Apartment and an Apartment (the top room type), although the same pics had been used to advertise both room types, there were some differences and he stated that my room was larger than most in the hotel. I was still unsure, but accepted what he said and i collected a bathrobe and slippers, the reason they are not already in the room was due to ongoing Covid restrictions. I still felt that i was in the room room type, it was large, but a lot of the room was taken up by a wet room, which was adapted for a wheelchair user and this made the room an awkward space with a lot of dead space. As it turned out, my flight home was cancelled and i ended up staying only 2 nights, so didn't pursue things further. On returning home i checked the room specifications on the website and room 107 is not up to the specifications advertised or as soon in the pics. two main reasons. 1) Executive Apartments have a sofa/sofa bed and can sleep up to 3 people, room 107 had no sofa/sofa bed and this room could only sleep 2 people max. 2) Executive Apartments have a separate seating area, a table and chairs where you can sit and eat, this is clearly shown in the pics too. This was not in room 107. The only seating was a chair at the desk and one other chair. I think room 107 is a superior room adapted for a wheelchair user, but was given to me as i was a solo traveller and dd not need the capacity to sleep 3. I wanted the sofa/sofa bed to sit on and relax, that's why i booked a room with that in it. I am only writing this review, as 3 emails have gone unanswered, one to novum hotels 10/04/22 and two direct to the hotel 12/04/22 and 20/04/22. After arriving in retro style, I realized that this hotel was much better than I imagined. The room was very clean and it was very convenient to the city and the subway. If you are a couple or a family of three or four, you can choose from different room types. This time I stayed in a one-room apartment with a small kitchen, which was suitable for a short trip. Value for money ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The decoration style of the entire hotel is very unique. The hotel gym also has a sauna and swimming pool. The restaurant on the first floor is also very good. I didn't go to the garden because the weather was too cold. I want to come here again next time. There is a brunch shop nearby that is also delicious. The hotel is a convention hotel and the convention centers are huge and great for events. There are lots of restaurants to choose from, but the hours are incorrect and the employees at the desk do not know the hours of the restaurants…so good luck! We stayed in wing 2 and there are 3 elevators, q of which is not on. Unfortunately the elevators may take 15 minutes to pick you up. If they aren’t overly full. The rooms are what would be 3-stars in the US. They are very small, but mostly clean. The amenities are average at best, but not good compared to comparable hotels in Europe. Honestly, I’d not choose to stay here again. The people are friendly, but the hotel is lacking in quality and customer service.

Good hotel, not really central but with good public communcations just outside. Good enough breakfast, good rooms. The opening times for de the bar and restaurant is a bit short, probably because of covid. The Garage is reasonably priced and feels safe.

Breakfast was really good (especially considering standard German -level), and the room was really nice and had an excellent view, especially because we got a free upgrade for our room due to fully booked hotel situation. We also liked the location, for example a Michelin star restaurant ”Nobelhart & Schmutzig” was nearby, to which we were able to get a table. But if you are looking for the best parties and some ”queer -action”, you might want to check out a place to stay a bit closer to the Kreuzberg center. It's approx. 20-30 minutes walk from the hotel. The only small criticism comes from the Bathroom lighting. If you need to go to the bathroom during the night, be prepared to be blinded by the lighting - there's no option to put on a dimmer nightlight. No biggie though. Also, we did not try the Spa -area, so cannot comment on that.

Location: The location is the prime advantage if you wish to visit Berlin. All the attractions are easily accessible with Bus/S-Bahn/U-Bahn. So full marks for this. Breakfast: For vegeterians, was plenty to choose from. So we are happy with it. Ofcourse for non-vegeterians, maybe bit disappointing as there was no omlett/Wursts/HotDogs etc which you least expect. Staff: Overall good, except one incidence. A Guy with specs, from the kitchen area, talked rudely with us as we were taking photos of the food. He could have talked politely which is the first and utmost thing you expect in Germany. Other than him the all other staff members were good. ROOMs: The rooms were quite small because of extra Bed. We would like to mention that we were completely disappointed with the extra bed. It was big , agree, but it looked like it was a Sofa-Bed and had very large structure which took lot of room space. Exactly the way the others have complained here. The quality of the mattress was poor. The pillow quality was as well poor for this extra bed. The double bed was big enough but the qulity of the mattress can be better. Cleanliness: The room was in general clean except that certain areas needed immediate attention. For example the iron-pad had dust layers so decided not to use it at all. The toilet seat was from outside clean but the inner side was unattended and hence not clean enough. Next day the room service cleaned up the room but it was also not perfect. They only made the bedsheets. They did not bother to once clean the surface of bedsheets. Which we immediately noticed. Which is not expected from room service.

Hotel room was small and clean. Great quiet location.Large reception area. Will stop there again without hesitation. Will never book through Trip.com again. Both flights were cancelled. Ryan Air informed us for the departure so we changed to the night before arriving late and extra nights accommodation needed. The app still has us flying on the original date. The return flight was cancelled and the app stated we were checked in and even gave details of check in gate. This meant another night in a hotel and hundreds of pounds extra to fly the next morning. The app is useless. Book direct with the airline and watch Google as it steers you towards Trip.com automatically. The helpline does not answer the phone. Generic answers are useless just like Trip.com Please publish this!

This is the second hotel I stayed while visiting Berlin. Having spent most of my life managing hospitality properties I feel as though the Leonardo deserves a shout out. If I’m not mistaken this hotel used to be called Hotel California and was built as a 4-star property. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. Refrigerator but no microwave and some features in the bathroom that are not everywhere. I had opted for the inclusive breakfast and it was a good decision. The spread was vast and if you went away hungry you had no one to blame but yourself. One more service - surprising to me especially given the change in US hotels post-pandemic is daily housekeeping service. Well done Leonardo - I’ll be returning to Berlin in the next several weeks and if you can accommodate me - expect to see me.
