The Olde Mill Inn Basking Ridge

Wow what a beautiful place, we had a wonderful experience at your place except for the breakfast. The staff working were so rude and disrespectful especially at that time of the day.

Property is pretty, very quaint and clean. Restaurant is not attached. You either have to drive over or take a nice walk. Depending on the weather, it may not be so nice of a walk. Service was subpar in restaurant and hotel at best. There was a wedding there during our stay so it was quite chaotic. All guest facilities were unattainable because the wedding was using the space. Ridiculous. We were able to use the gym or sit in the lobby area, that was it. Wish I would’ve known that before I booked as there was not much to do. Unfortunately, our room was right above the wedding reception. We listened to & felt the vibration of the DJ till almost midnight. Room was clean, decent size. Dined at the detached restaurant. Did not enjoy the walk over. Restaurant closes early. Our entrées were quite bland. Nothing special. Service was unprofessional. I asked the waiter if I could substitute the vegetable that came with my entrée for a different vegetable, his reply was “I don’t care” When we asked if there was a specific type of condiment at the bar, he laughed and said, “I doubt it.” One cocktail each, 2 appetizers, 4 entrées and a dessert cost $280 w tip. Complementary buffet breakfast included. Nice spread but very small space. Maybe 8 to 10 tables. So if the hotel is full be prepared to stand w your coffee & pastry. Also, breakfast staff not friendly. Asked employee to help w coffee urn, under her breath, she called me stupido. Pretty place at best but don’t think I’d return.

Love the Old Mill Inn but the girl who checked us in was very brisk and unfriendly. The young man on the desk when we left was a delight.

Spent a recent Sunday night here while on some quick personal business in the area. I’d been aware of this property and its excellent reputation for many years, having lived in the general vicinity for a long time. But, having recently relocated, finally had an excuse to spend an overnight. WHAT WAS GOOD: Buildings and grounds here are elegant and beautifully maintained. This has the look and feel of an upscale property but at a reasonable price….Our room was nicely decorated and the bedding exceptionally comfortable. There was a fridge and a good quality Keurig with nice hot beverage choices….The complimentary breakfast was very good, with a good selection of both hot and cold items….The Grain House was just steps away and provided a nice dinner experience….I spent a couple minutes enjoying the peaceful and serene central courtyard after breakfast….Staff were efficient, helpful, professional and slightly reserved, as you might expect in New Jersey’s Somerset hills area. WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER: It’s no fault of the management that the property happens to lie right along busy I-287. Road noise is definitely an issue. Thankfully the white noise provided by the A/C unit throughout our entire stay mitigated any concerns for sleep quality. (Of course, the upside is that the property is very convenient to the highways and easy to reach.) THINGS TO KNOW: You’re probably aware that this is a popular wedding venue. Things were quiet during our Sunday night stay but I would imagine the place could get quite busy at certain times. BOTTOM LINE: We had an excellent stay at what I thought was a reasonable price for the overall quality. I would recommend and would stay again if the opportunity arises.

Wonderful place to stay

Nice hotel but very, dry noisy. It backs up to Route 78. If you are a light sleeper or otherwise don’t like the sound of 18 wheelers all night long be sure to ask for a courtyard room. If you don’t ask for a quiet room you are likely to end up on the highway-side (my experience).

NO HOT WATER! IT WAS COLD IN THE ROOM AND THE SHOWER WAS COLD.

The Olde Mill Inn is quiet, comfortable, and a lovely place to stay. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. The front desk staff is always nice. I've stayed here several times and would highly recommend it.

Loved the historical theme and cozy ambience. Arrived in a snow storm to a crackling fire in the lobby. Quiet and convenient.
