Our happy place… Fab hotel, lovely staff, beautiful rooms & great food - All set in an amazing place with so much to do locally & a little further a field. Our 5th visit & always as good as the last, never disappoints. Can’t wait to come back for the 6th!

Wij verbleven hier helaas 3 nachten tijdens onze rondreis in Wales.

We Have stayed here for many years on and off we always rated it highly and told freinds great place to stay, but now, breakfast time the bacon was so thin it was dried out like a piece of board the potatoes bits had been cooked to a dark brown colour or reheated from day before, best thing really was the toast. the room as always was spotless, but their was no heat, there was a radiator which was covered by the curtains when closed and now because they have another layer of glass over the windows to try and keep road noise down whcih doesnt work you are unable to lift the curtains over the heater, which allowed heat into the room, i asked at reception if they could do something they said they would send a heater up it did not happen, there was a singing noise in the bathroom asked them to sort that out, nothing done, there was a loose socket on the wall in the bathroom that wasnt sorted, whenever we had a issue before was sorted there and then i think it was only once over the last 20 years, food at night well we ate in the stables first night you couldnt eat the chips they wasnt even chips as such un-edible, the rest was lovely but i had to pay for the chips, next night in the oak to eat veg supposed to be aldentay it was as though it was dropped in boiled water and taken out straight away so only ended up have a 4 inch round bow of shepherds pie. they charge so much to stay and better off in local b and b's on arrival we where given vouchers off items in local shop and rip wire i bought a item from the shop but forgot the voucher it stated the shop belonged to the hotel, so next day when back and we was refused even though the lady said we can sort that out we buy your item back them sell it again with the voucher but when she went to see the owner he said no

We were travelling home to the Midlands and we decided to call in to the Royal Oak as it was lunchtime and the parking ticket was reimbursed if you spent over £10. We decided we just wanted snacks, so were seated in the bar lounge area, which was very comfy and cosy. The waitress who served us was really lovely and we had a good laugh with her. We ordered sandwiches and we were so shocked by the quality and quantity received! They were amazing and it was that delicious we stayed later than planned so we could fit in some cake too! lol We have decided that we would like to stay at this hotel, so when we are back in Wales, we will certainly make enquiries.

We didn't stay but had a delicious lunch in the bar, there doesn't seem to be a separate review site, odd? The Welsh rarebit was lovely but a touch salty, tuna sandwiches also great and both came with nice accompaniments. Service was brilliant, highly recommended.

The hotel has a lot of character and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. We had evening dinner which was disappointing. Breakfast was good but please provide muesli. We would certainly stay again but would probably sample a restaurant elsewhere for dinner if one were available.

Visited for lunch. Cannot fault it at all. I rarely have three courses but I simply had to here. Hard to choose the best course but the sweet of Black Forest Trifle was to die for!!! Both my wife and son had excellent meals of pork chicken tikka kebab which were both of an excellent standard.

It was a bonus to be able to use the pool at the sister hotel, the Waterloo. Breakfast was fabulous, served hot and on a hot plate.
