Used the spa for a half day with a wonderful treatment called « Bulles d’oxygène « which consists of 25 minutes of exfoliation and a 25 minute massage. Elodie, a young masseuse, did a terrific job and I highly recommend her. You will leave totally refreshed!

So when it comes to picking up a hotel for a new destination you always go for the safest choice and by picking a 5 stars Sofitel hotel, you believe it will be great luxury but let me tell you that this isn’t the case in this one at all. The 2 stars rating is only for the great staff at reception and door and the service including the great house keeping. The hotel it self is a rip off for the price, we were given a smokers room upon check in and couldn’t have it changed due to hotel full capacity, it had a strong smell of old tobacco and the only solution they could come up with is spray an even harsher chemicals in our room and asking us to leave the room. The building is so old and requires urgent renovation, balcony is outdated with uncomfortable metal chairs. We also stopped going to breakfast because we couldn’t find much choice or selection for us. Cocktails are charged for 20€+ and food expensive for what it is. I really think Sofitel should be ashamed charging 1000€ per night using their name and branding and not offering any luxury in return ( a part from the fancy jewellery display at the lobby) We were lucky to find a room in the hotel du palais next door, the hotel puts the bar very high and is really the ultimate luxury experience.

The ugliest building on the Miramar beach. Revamping should have been done years ago. It’s an embarrassment for all people living here. Rust, dirty walls and windows. You have lost a customer for other hotels Accor as not respecting people here ! Should be inform the city ?

Usually I like Sofitel so I was expecting the same quality. As soon as we pulled up to the hotel, we were disappointed the marquee was hanging the paint was chipping on the entrance building. Our room balcony was molded. Caulking was hanging ,the hallways baseboards were disgustingly, dirty, and ripping from the wall, I have never seen such a dirty, Hotel. I believe it’s because they are joining with condos, and the owners don’t want to renovate or something. Oh, and I forgot to mention the gym the paint on the wall was all molded. They had water infiltration through the skylights. I was a little bit scared to be there.

What a fabulous location for a hotel. Check in at Reception, turn to the left and you’ll find yourself looking straight out of a wall of glass … at the sea. The hotel is literally right next to the beach. The only thing between it and the crashing waves is an outdoor pool and a narrow path, which winds all the way to the town. It goes through a delightful tunnel for part of the route, used by locals and visitors alike. The concrete floor is thick with damp sand that the sea tosses in at high tide every night. Very atmospheric. The Sofitel is a spacious, modern hotel, with large, comfortable bedrooms, each with its own private balcony and a very pleasant bar area where the Wales - England rugby match was on when we arrived. An unexpected bonus. Nice touch Sofitel. Our family group includes a disabled member, who found it a bit of a challenge to navigate a fairly large public space (it seems large if you can barely walk) in order to reach a lift that goes down to the breakfast room. (In the photograph, you can just about make out a figure with a walking stick in the distance.) I'm not sure what the hotel could do about this other than have the odd wheelchair available. Breakfast itself was great, the quality of the food was excellent and the staff very attentive. I'd definitely go back again next time I'm in Biarritz.

I had reservations as reviews were mixed but I was pleasantly surprised. The location is breathtaking and the staff made my anniversary quite special. The hamman was great and the heated outdoor pool was great. Perhaps the hotel could use some updates here and there but our room was great - the sea view amazing and the hotel staff went that extra mile with us.

Diabolical that this rusting dated & totally worn out musty smelling hotel is classed as a 5 star…a 3 star rating would be overly generous…will never trust Sofitel & associated brands ratings again & will go elsewhere….when you book a 5 star rated hotel that is precisely what you pay for & have a right to expect

Worst hotel EVER! Don’t go there Dirty, old, smelling mold, really needs a lot of love. If they don’t renovate it now maybe it would be better to demolish and start over. It’s a shame to call this Hotel a Sofitel. The only good thing is their employees.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Sofitel, everything was perfection, starting with the Ocean view bedroom, followed by amazing treatments at the SPA, the incredible food served at the Restaurant and last but not least the amazing staff that took care of us in every part of the resort. I would totally recommend to family and friends to got there for a break. I will totally be back!

My family booked this hotel thinking it looked like the pictures on the internet – it didn’t; the Sofitel Biarritz needs an URGENT refurbishment as it looks awful. This Sofitel property should be taken away the 5* status immediately, as in reality, it has the condition of a 3*. The carpets across the hotel are extremely old, the terrace of my room was falling apart (see pictures), and the entire outside is oxidated and looks like an old hotel in very poor condition. The pictures in my review speak for itself. If you wish to have an awful experience as I did room 412 and experience the awful holiday, book the Sofitel!

Courteous, genuinely friendly service from all management and staff, elegant and character-filled public spaces, and a simply extraordinarily beautiful location made the Sofitel Biarritz Miramar Hotel a very and successful venue for our special family celebration. Yes, some of the fabric is a little tired, but we found no fault with any aspect of our 5 day visit; this is a very special hotel in a superb setting in a beautiful region of a unique country.

Just stayed 2 nights with my husband. Good - great location. On the water. Great views. Friendly, hard working staff. Bad - NOT a 5 star hotel. I have no idea how the hotel holds that ranking. Maybe 20 years ago. Now it’s a 3 star hotel at best. It needs to be shut down for a couple of years and completely renovated. Musty hallways, small rooms, rusty, moldy exterior. Cheap furniture. A 3 star experience for a 5 star price. If you’re in the market for a 5 star in Biarritz stay at the Hotel Du Palais. They had a 3-night minimum while we were there so we couldn’t, but we went to the bar for a drink. Wow. Beautiful place! Sofitel - not so much.

Professional and warm welcome immediately upon arrival from the Valet Parking guys and the lady at reception. A nice upgrade later we were contemplating THAT sea and lighthouse view from our very comfortable room. Yes the hotel needs a bit of a refresh but the location can’t be beat: beach right there, 2 sea water pools (the outside one is very large, great cocktails too !), huge spa area, parking and a short stroll into the center of town. But again it’s the staff we’ll remember and probably go back to. They clearly have affection for their hotel. Bravo et merci !
