Our cabin was just right, we loved the balcony. Our beds were comfortable, and the shower was delightful.

Fabulous location, great hikes in the redwoods, panoramic views. Rooms are clean, fireplaces well provisioned and staff helpful.

If you want a quiet, off of the map, unplugged, magical experience, this is it. The rooms are not fancy, no Wi-Fi, no TV, no frills. The beds were decently comfortable and we had a fireplace and a small deck to sit on. That being said, the lodge is extremely nice with a fire going and a place to hang out, books to read with comfortable seating, a coffee shop, a restaurant with very friendly service, and a gift shop. There are no words for beauty of the grounds, it’s like being in a fairytale. We will definitely be back!

We took a Highway # 1 road trip from Playa de Rey up to Napa with good friends. It was a great trip. My favorite part was our stay in Big Sur. Native flowers everywhere. Rugged coast. Spectacular views. After a day of exploring and hiking coming back to the Glen Oak was a respite. Well located it was a great central place to explore from.

Stayed here for two nights on our first trip to Big Sur. The location and the surroundings of the property can’t be beat with lots of wooded trails to check out right off of the property which was fantastic. We arrived late (around 8 pm ish I think) on what was probably a busy day which I understand but there was just one other family ahead of us and nobody after us, which is why it felt a little odd that the check-in process felt rushed. Since there was a storm and we were traveling with a toddler, I had a couple of questions. But the kid who checked us in was unnecessarily curt. Okay, whatever! So, I let it be. Anyway, we checked in and got free entry to three local state parks which was nice but as luck would have it, we ended up spending a lot of time in the room because of the rain. The cottages themselves are spacious and feel private with a nice balcony overlooking the trees and a cute skylight. However, everything in there felt dated and definitely needed a good dusting. I agree with one of the previous reviewers who said the walls were paper thin because we could hear every time our neighbor sneezed. Lol! But it was mostly quiet. There is also no wifi and the cellular reception is spotty. The heater in the room rattled all night but kept us warm albeit the dust on it was slightly concerning. All in all, it was a rustic, peaceful stay but I am not sure it justified the $$$ though.

We found Big Sur Lodge to fit our group perfectly. We loved our fireplace room and easy access to all the sights the area has to offer. The price was affordable. Only thing missing was a hot tub. Hiking trails were absolutely gorgeous in Pfeiffer State park.

Meh. Although the fact that the cabins are situated right in the park, this stay won't be repeated. it's charming but really, a little more attention to detail would be nice. we did tip the person who attends the cabin; it was as clean as it could be. ALSO, please give your guests some guidance as to ascertain the position of the fireplace flue. really, this is nearly inexcusable given the attention paid to potential fire hazards in the region.
