If you need a cheap hotel for 200 bucks for the night while in Birmingham, and you’re not the picky type- then I guess… but this place is kind of gross. Freezing cold, insane asylum looking hallways. The rooms are just gross. They kind of smell like mold and they’re just kind of disgusting, honestly. I was up half the night just feeling grossed out in the bed. The restaurant “The Lab”- bad food and horrible service. If you’re at all picky, I would just stay away from this place; it was a mistake. Before booking the Birmingham hotel room for the night though, I went on Tripadvisor and filtered it with highest rating for a four star hotel (as they don’t have fives in Birmingham) and this one showed up as number one. After realizing what a mistake this choice was, I went back on Tripadvisor and realized that the majority of the reviews are “one time only review folks”, which leads me to believe that they might not really be real reviews from guests that have actually stayed here. A bit suspicious, especially with the stark contrast between a lot of the reviews that I read and what I actually experienced first-hand. This is not a well-kept, clean Hilton property. It really needs to be torn down. The only plus I found was Lisa at front office who answered the phone when I called that morning asking for a quiet room on a high floor and another small request. She was delightful and did everything she said she would.
