Fantastic Sunday lunch- the starters particularly the pork belly were amazing and the roasts were excellent- huge portions! The staff were amazing especially as our dog had been missed off the booking form so they quickly turned around a table for us!

Booked last minute for the tea time special on 4th April, which just happened to be my wife's birthday. All six of us really enjoyed the food . The slow cooked beef with dumplings was a triumph, as were all our other meals! Our sincere thanks to the entire team for your warm welcome and professionalism.

As a local we have visited Park Head on and off since it opened, food has always been very nice, especially Sunday Lunch. But service always so slow. Only ever one person taking orders. However, the service is very slow. We visited January 14th, just got around to leaving a review. I don't think we will be visiting any time soon. Our table was booked for 12noon, we where the 2nd table seated it took until 12.20 to take our food order, then we finally received our food at 12.40pm. We decided not to stay for dessert as it was taking to long. A number of staff standing around that could take orders, but the system seems to be only one person this really doesn't work. Staff and food are lovely, but the systems really doesn't work.

We visited the restaurant with friends and the atmosphere and decor was lovely the staff couldn't do enough to help so polite and friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and helped us with our choices, the food was amazing 3 of us had the steaks which were cooked to perfection and I had the burger it was lovely the chips were amazing and the staff passed our comments on to the chef. It was nice the staff took the time to talk about the food and told about upcoming offers aw well. I would definitely recommend a visit we certainly will be returning.

My wife and myself stayed here for the valentine’s evening, our experience was exceptional from the very friendly staff to the excellent quality of food, thank you for making us feel so welcome nothing was a bother and very much appreciated, we will definitely be seeing you again soon.

An excellent hotel. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and efficient, the room was excellent and the food and bar were of a very high standard. We received superb service throughout. Great location if you want to explore the Durham countryside. We would not hesitate to use this hotel again.

We'd seen that the Park Head had been renovated and was under new management, so we went for brunch to check it out. It was disappointing, particularly because the Auckland Project (google it!) seems to do most things well. I had "American pancakes with berry compote". They were basically tiny drop pancakes with some good compote, but any American would have been shocked, particularly at the price. I could do far better at several local pubs that offer brunch. My partner had veggie sausages in a bun. I can't remember what the menu called them. But that's all they were, and very basic at that. Again, there are several local pubs that would do better at little more than half the price. We won't be back, I'm afraid.

Local to us and newly refurbished / reopened a group of 10 booked a Christmas menu. Start with a positive, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were lovely. Prawn cocktail starter had the presentation of a top class restaurant but that’s where it ended. Prawns not particularly tasty. Stodgy bread, the frozen butter did not make it any more palatable. Slow cooked beef was so tough the 3 of us who ordered had to return it. Fresh veg would be nice too. Good response with very nice thinly sliced beef given but as everyone else had already finished it was disappointing. £19 for two glasses of wine, guess that would have been ok if the food was outstanding but it wasn’t.

A lovely, trendy place to stay. Beautiful rooms in an original setting. Very friendly staff and excellent breakfast and food. Will be back, for sure! Also, enjoyed a lovely walk to town from the hotel via the Auckland Way.
