Booked for 21 for Sunday lunch today, when we arrived we had a private room . Food was amazing and everyone served together, piping hot and very tasty at £10.95 for 1 meat it was well worth paying the £1.50 extra for a trio of meat. Drinks reasonable too.

Our favourite part of the trip was the owner's willingness to adapt to our needs. Our room was warm and comfortable and had super towels which was good as we had travelled by train. A further example .. providing porridge which was not part of his breakfast menu and welcoming our son and wife for breakfast. Also providing me with a hair dryer which wasn't included in the room. I would recommend this stay as worked out better than an Airbnb in the area. Parking outside. Central location for exploring the Weardale. We wish Tom every success in the midst of rising costs. We will stay again when visiting the N. East.

Absolutely fantastic place to stay. Tom was brilliant. I have been to this hotel for 40 years but the team have updated it incredibly well. We ate dinner and breakfast here and the portions and quality was excellent. The room was great, warm, well presented and I had a great night's sleep.

Curry night Staying nearby so popped in on Tuesday night. Only curry on the menu but we weren’t disappointed. I really enjoyed the veggie option, very tasty. The other praised the chicken versions.

We have just arrived and was greeted by Mary who is 92. Wonderful lady with a great sense of humour. We are in toom 6 and is tastefully decorated with a walk in shower and a huge bed. It is situated in a great location with plenty to see and do. Danny and Gwen Liverpool

Extremely rude staff. Would not recommend. We travelled quite a distance to get here as we had heard good reviews from friends. However, the food was overpriced for what it was and took forever to arrive, and the staff were miserable. We attended on an open mic night and were told to be quiet by a bar maid because were ‘all she could hear outisde’. Even if this was the case 1 her approach was disgraceful 2 are you not allowed to talk in a pub!? Absolutely ridiculous. Seemed dirty and dingy. The performers were all awful who either couldn’t play their instruments or couldn’t sing. The performers also made quips over the mic if anyone even whispered during a song. Terrible atmosphere and definelty will not be returning. Incompetent staff with no understanding of customer service/management... stunned that this place makes any money.
