Do NOT stay at this BW--management/desk staff are unhelpful at best/liars at worst. My husband and I recently spent a week here after staying several times before. We stay at Best Westerns often, and are currently Platinum level members. We did not have the best stay this time (several issues), HOWEVER, the big issue is a bag we left AND the way it was handled. The morning after checking out we realized we left a large bag (from a store) above the closet area--this bag had about $400 worth of vitamins in it. We called and were put off several times, having to call back, and was finally told that both housekeeping and the manager (Hazel) had been in the room to clean out checkout and no bag was there. So...? The desk clerk we spoke to was most dismissive and unhelpful. He said we must have left the bag elsewhere. There was nowhere else-we bought the items in Asheville, placed them above the closet while we were there, and left them there. Either they were thrown away or taken. No one would go check the room or call the folks who were in the room to check. We called again on Sunday and Monday--nothing found or turned in and no help whatsoever. This is quite unacceptable considering the amount of time we spend in Best Westerns. We feel like this may be retaliation by management (Hazel) since we complained about a disgusting stopped up sink while we were there (that we got a plunger and fixed ourselves--have photos of that) and the cooler leak. When we told the original desk clerk on Saturday that we would be contacting Best Western corporate to complain about his attitude/service/lack of help and the missing bag, his response was "go for it". He does not need a job in hotel, restaurant and tourism. Also, I know hotels are not responsible for items in rooms, but since housekeeping/management had been in there after we checked out, either one of them took the bag, trashed it, or they did a poor job of cleaning all areas of the room and didn't see it...
