We spent four nights at this hotel, partly as a Room to Reward break away with extra days added on. The staff were fantastic, room spacious and comfortable with welcoming water and sweet treats. Our room overlooked the golf course with spectacular views to wake up to. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious as was the restaurant meal we had one evening. We also enjoyed the spa area one rainy afternoon. Would we stay here again or recommend to friends and family? Most definitely

Beautiful location. Rooms quite adequate and clean. Although not cleaned for the 2 nights we stayed. The swimming pool and sauna/steam rooms very good. Breakfast nicely cooked with good choices for hot or cold selection. All staff helpful and friendly. Only minus was quite hard mattresses and the shower over the bath should really have a wall grab rail for safety .

We recently stayed for our anniversary and overall had a mixed experience. There were definitely positives. We both slept well, the room was warm and comfortable, and the shower was good. Our second evening meal was much improved and service felt noticeably more professional. The second breakfast was also a far better experience, with a lovely member of staff welcoming us and, due to lower numbers, breakfast being cooked to order rather than buffet style, something we actually preferred and felt was more in keeping with a hotel describing itself as a bistro. The spa facilities were a real highlight and were excellent. You can tell it is separate from the hotel. However, there was dust around reception in this area as well. However, the hotel itself feels tired and in need of investment and deep cleaning. There was visible dust in stairwells, marks in the room, and hairs in the bathroom on arrival. The dining room in particular lets the hotel down, many of the seats had visible ketchup stains down the arms and looked in need of a deep clean or replacement. The conservatory/balcony roof was also covered in moss and green build-up, which added to the run-down feel. Fresh paint and a general refresh would make a huge difference. Service was inconsistent. One evening we overheard staff speaking negatively about other guests in a loud and unprofessional way, which was uncomfortable and disappointing to witness. Both members of staff stood at the bar after being rude the customer and then continued to discuss her once she had gone to her room. Our first breakfast also felt chaotic, with poor presentation of some buffet items. The uncovered fruit with flies around it was concerning, pastries were dry, and some ingredients felt very low quality, even simple touches such as investing in better quality baked beans would noticeably improve the breakfast offering. There is potential here, and some staff and facilities were lovely, but for the price paid (£620 booked directly), we expected the hotel itself to be maintained to a much higher standard, the bedrooms and general decor is dated.

Not a nice experience, very dissapointed, felt unclean invspa area. Jacuzzi was still closed after we changed day , we had a voucher for 2 course lunch, they had run out of fish n chips, also no eggs! Plus they forgot us after the main meal.. we left without desert!! Service not good ! Overall won't be going back.

We were really looking forward to staying here for me, a walk down memory lane as far as Dartmouth concerned but, the hotel is dated in parts our hotel room needed a refurb that’s for sure, we did have a dog friendly room costing an additional £15 per night we were told because we had a dog our room would not be serviced I can understand if our dog was there but as he came with us a sign on the door saying please service would be an option but not offered. We used the pool area which was good but found the spa staff very unfriendly no greeting it was just “well, what do you want?” we had to ask for towels on both occasions. As this is a holiday destination I would expect a friendly smile and greeting when interacting with staff the bar staff and guy in the bistro were very friendly so big up to them. As I come from a hospitality background I would suggest some staff training maybe needed or staff asked if they actually want to be there.

Visited the Spa for the Twilight experience 5- 8pm yesterday. This was part of my wife’s birthday celebration, so a special occasion. The hotel receptionist was very pleasant and directed us to the Spa, where the receptionist was less welcoming. The facilities themselves are not as shown in the photographs. The gym is very small… in fact ridiculously cramped. The whole facility is very tired looking with broken and rusty lockers. The sauna had duck tape holding things in place and looked shabby. The pool experience was completely ruined by eight 16/17 year olds jumping in the Spa Pool/ bombing and play fighting. The pool was not lifeguarded or supervised. As a qualified lifeguard/ trainer I can say that their behaviour was actually dangerous. Had there been any management of the pool they would have been asked to leave. My wife complained at the hotel reception, but no details were actually recorded for follow up action. A real shame as the location is lovely, it just lacks upkeep and management.

Enjoyable two night stay at this hotel. Pros first: staff are all friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant both evenings and enjoyed good food, freshly prepared. Breakfast was plentiful and covered options from continental to full English, no issues with choice at all. Our bedroom was spacious with a comfortable bed and a newly refurbished bathroom, good shower and fluffy white towels. The swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room are included with your stay (spa treatments extra). Enjoyed making use of these facilities. Now to the cons: the hotel is very tired and at the time of our visit there was an issue with the drains which caused unpleasant smells in the communal hallways and near the spa. The windows were dirty, detracting from the view from the bistro. The windows in the bedroom are single glazed, don't open, and streamed with condensation in the morning. The carpets are very grubby and small things like a lot of dust on top of the bedside lamps and TV let the room down. The stair carpets are really past their best and dirty, not a good example of Best Western at all. The redeeming features of the hotel don't quite outweigh the negatives and I am not sure about a return visit, unless the place is upgraded.
