Fortuna Hotel- Near Pleasure Beach

The pictures online look so nice but in reality this place is run down and filthy. We had to wipe clean the top of both bedside units because of spillage stains on them and very sticky all over the top. The toilet had dirt on it, the shower cubicle & shower curtain had thick black mould. The toilet/shower fixtures had thick rust covering them. These items are so cheap to buy. The bed was comfortable but felt dirty. Overall this place gave us the impression that next to no effort is made to maintain it or clean it.

What a dump!.....i messaged the owners prior to my stay with concerns by what i read on various review sites, most if not all the reviews left alot of negatives saying about the poor conditions of the rooms. When i spoke to the owners prior to my stay, i raised my concerns, however they dismissed them by claiming that the reviews were left by guest who stayed under the previous owners - this was lies as alot of them negative reviews are very recent ones! The owners try to defend themselves like they will when they reply to this review. They will leave the same response which they do for all the reviews, (the beauty of copy and paste!), denying everything, blaming others when the truth is, is that they need to take a long hard look at themselves, stop conning people by overcharging for rooms that are nothing less than disgusting. Our room was number 11, straight up 3 floors of rickety stairs, the room was very small for what was meant to of been a family room, very cramped and a mess - toilet seat uneven, rusty bathroom holder, which doubled up as a single toilet roll holder, broken towel rail, stains on the carpet, torn wallpaper, dirty/rusty radiator, stains on the wallpaper, hairs, decaying walls......and they are the things in my eyeline, without lifting up mattresses/bedding etc as i no doubt would of found more things! There was even a bag containing something behind the bedside cabinet, i did not even bother to look what was in it - do these people even bother cleaning? This is one of the worse places i have ever had the displeasure of staying in - it is a dump and the owners should be ashamed of themselves for not only allowing people to stay here but having the nerve to charge what they do! I know they wont, but these owners need to do the right thing and redecorate from top to bottom and be more cleaner, as they cannot keep blaming the previous owners of this establishment as they are no longer there hence the term 'former'. Message to the owners - Take responsibility - too many people are leaving negative reviews across numerous sites because they are a true reflection of their experiences - so why don't you, the owners act and do something about it! On the plus side, the Fortuna is located in the quiet part of the South Pier end, there is street parking nearby but you may have to circle the streets in order to find somewhere.

We had our room (no 10) booked for a long weekend, the owners are amazing people and this review is not a reflection of them but our stay wasn’t the best experience we have had when travelling. Our room is very dated and was very dirty, the bottom of the bed is heavily stained and I couldn’t even guess what caused it, so was the headboard to be honest, we cleaned the headboard with our own surface wipes as I couldn’t sleep knowing what was near our heads. The room had the basic needs toilet, sink and a working shower but you cannot help your eyes wandering with the things that are just not right in the room. I would say as a base the location is perfect and I cannot vouch for any of the other rooms in the guest house just the one we stayed in so please note that as well. The mattress is pure metal springs literally poking through and must be years old, it just feels like the room is right at the top and feels forgotten about and hasn’t seen a deep clean for a very long time. As I said the owners are top notch lovely people but I would not recommend this guest house at all as being nice hosts is not enough to paper over a very poor room/experience. I work in hospitality and making sure the PAT testing is up to date Is also a must as people do look for things that meet criteria in hotels.

Arrived and not even open!...tried ringing no reply!....we were left with nowhere to stay!...Unopened mail on the floor through letterbox so I guess there hadn't been anyone there for a while....took our money through a booking agent months ago....that is classified as THEFT in my books!.... Do Not Book...Avoid At All Costs!...

Please don't stay here , this place is shocking , the rooms are dirty and not cleaned . The showers are shocking . I've never seen a dirtier hotel in my life . It smells of damp and mould . Don't believe me ... Go upstairs to the bathroom before you check in and look at the ceiling. The TV's don't work the staff don't care . This place should pay you to stay there . The beds are old as Jesus . We even found food under the bedside cabinet which we were to scared to touch . The toilet was full of marks and the sink was worse I've attached a couple of pics to show the standard of the rooms

My friend and I wanted a few days away. the rooms had heating on which kept going of and on freezing cold rooms had to sleep with clothes on. we could not get warm at all. sat watching tv in the eveing with coats on. beds were comfy bathrooms were OMG so small All needs up dating. Would never stay their again even if it was free

Had a fantastic 4 days here. The staff were amazing so attentive the room was nice just what we needed for our break away. The bathroom was a little dated but still had all you could need. You get what you pay for to be honest, we will definitely be back. Perfect for the pleasure beach and the South pier and sandcastles water park ( which we highly recommend trying out) 5 minutes walk from the shore front. The only thing we had an issue with was parking

I phoned in advance to let them know my daughter was on crutches & I'm an oap. When we arrived at 2 pm we were shown to a room 3 flights up. The room was dirty with wallpaper hanging off the walls, the coffee & kettle was on a tv shelf above our heads so had to be located to the floor beside the bed to be used. There was only a bed in the room no bedside or dressing table. The carpet was ripped. The shower was filthy with black mould on floor & walls the curtain had black mould & silver fish crawling up it. The mattresses on the beds were stained, you could see it through the very thin sheets no mattress or pillow protectors. The whole room smelt damp & discussing. The room was £80 if you wanted breakfast it was £4.50 for a quassont & a glass of juice which you had to order the night before. Wouldn't recommend this hotel it's a health & safety hazard
