Walden Retreats Hill Country

Walden Retreats was a most enjoyable stay! I will definitely be back. The room was clean and well equipped. The staff was professional and courteous. My only recommendation would be to have more than one cart to drive up the hill. Beautiful views!

Stunning place with a consistent vibe. Unplug, be present in nature, unbelievable views. We were the only guests at the location that night and everything was perfect. We cooked a small meal on the BBQ, looked up at the amazing night sky, made a fire in the wood stove because it got chilly out, used the electric blanket and watched the sunset. Took some photos, enjoyed the walk down to the river the next day. The staff at the park are so chill and helpful. Very relaced but also professional and organized. Will be coming back!

We spent a few nights here in April 2024. We usually take 10 days and go to Europe in April but this year we had to stay close to home. I found this last minute and it was a nice time. Staff is very friendly. We were the only people on the resort one night but even the nights when there were other people it was peaceful. We got one of the tents with the outdoor tub. It was great sitting in it and looking at the stars. The clawfoot tub was luxury. My husband loved cooking with their cast iron. We walked down to the river. We brought all of our food with us and never left once we got there. It was exactly what we needed. No, it wasn't a fancy vacation, but it was calm, lowkey and relaxing. We would not hesitate coming back in the spring or winter. I am not sure I would want to be there in the heat of Texas summer even with the mini splits. Thank you, Walden owners and staff, for a respite from our daily lives.

Very welcoming The custom service from Becky was outstanding. She made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. The stay was great; we had everything we needed inside the tent. Outstanding stay and service.

Wow, what a place! Every detail is thought out carefully. It is run so professionally. The tents are stunning and comfortable.

Secluded and peaceful retreat. Walden Retreat was an excellent get away to enjoy peace, privacy, and a truly beautiful setting. The “tents” are really like small bungalows and every bit as comfortable as a hotel room would be with air conditioning, bathroom and kitchen. We enjoyed sitting on the veranda and drinking coffee or building a fire in the fire ring and sipping wine and watching the sunset. If you are planning to visit some of the wineries, it is very close to the one concentrated around Hye. But it is a 45 minute drive into Fredericksburg. So the seclusion has pros and cons. We really loved our stay and hope to return again soon.
