Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Bloomington

Overall the stay was good. I didn't have any issues with cleanliness. I did have an issue with checking in. When I arrived to check in the front desk receptionist TOLD me that because the reservation was in my name and I had a local ID I was required to put down a $100 cash deposit as well as a CC on file even though I had paid for my stay in full over a month in advance. Due to not being told anything about this before hand I had to leave the hotel and go to a store nearby to get cash because I don't just walk around with cash on hand. Then when I returned with the cash deposit and began signing the paperwork to check in, I noticed that the reservation didn't have my name on it, but one of my family members name, when I asked the receptionist about it, she then back tracked and said the reservation actually wasn't in my name but was indeed in theirs and because they were from out of town and didn't have a local ID, we didn't need to put down any cash deposit. Due to this we ended up wasting an hour between trying to check in the first time, having to go get cash, and coming back only to be discover we didn't need the cash deposit. It was extremely inconvenient as I am 8 months pregnant and had to do unnecessary traveling. Then when we got to the room, although everything looked to be in order, the phone wasn't working. When we told the receptionist they said someone would be up to look at it and no one was ever sent.

Went in before check in and asked if we could check in early and was told no. No big deal, asked if we could use the pool prior to check in and was also told no, you must be checked in to use it. The room was okay. When we checked in later in the evening the front desk clerk was fantastic and very polite.

Always a good stay at the hawthorn. It's always much appreciated when stopping along the way so much appreciated.

I am extremely disappointed with this stay, overall my room had a hole in the wall, the pull out couch was dirty and there was no conditioner in the room. We had to ask for towels to be filled in the pool there were 0. When I checked out we were charged an extenuating cleaning fee of 56 dollars I was not informed about this charge or given a receipt I had to call about it and was told I trashed my room which is not true. I assume in general cleaning that every room would be swept and mopped and the blankets have to be cleaned there were crumbs on the floor but there is not a provided broom or mop when I tried to reason with the manager she informed me this charge was staying and that the video footage she had wasn’t working to send me that I requested. That she would have to send it later today or tomorrow. I have yet to receive it.

It was great the rooms are comfortable and roomy. Breakfast was ok not great but this is our place to stay in Bloomington Normal.

Staff was friendly. Room was spacious. Facility looks tired.

Do NOT stay here unless it is a cheap one night stay for you. The rooms are in need of maintenance and they aren't the cleanest rooms I have ever stayed in. The room layout is great, but the floors were dirty and the furniture is dusty. The linens were clean and the bathroom appeared to be clean. It appears like this hotel came under different management and the new management does not care how things appear. The pool was fine but very very dark at night. If you have small children, I would have them wear super bright clothing or you will have trouble seeing them at night. Breakfast was okay. Everything was warm and filled but the sausage was burnt and hard. We are not a picky family when it comes to hotels but in the future I will avoid this place. It is really too bad because the rooms could have been great if they were maintained. The rooms are spacious. There was a couple in the lobby waiting for help for an hour. They front desk was busy doing something else. I felt bad for them because they were locked out of their room and couldn't get any help.

It was a hassle checking in. Rooms were not very clean. I was referred there by my cousin who lives in Bloomington. As a hotel manager I would never want a guest to walk into a room with a dirty bed and garbage still in the room.
