Breakfast is not really included as such. Only the continental buffet. This is cereal, fruits, cereal bars, baked items and a large selection of cakes, including mince pies, which was odd for breakfast. The hot breakfast requires a surcharge to be paid, something I’ve never experienced before. The full English would be best described as part English breakfast, with no sausages, tomatoes, or mushrooms included which is a bit of an insult when you’re paying a surcharge. I can’t fault the service, or anything else, but this felt a bit naughty to be doing.

The accomodation was fine. Reasonably clean and comfortable. The evening meal was nothing to write home about but it was ok. Breakfast was disappointing. Thankfully I noticed that the raspberries were covered in mould before my three year old ate any. The butter tasted sour and off- I couldn't eat it and had to take the butter covered toast from my 8 month old baby who was already munching away. We ordered toast for the table (of 5 people). It took a long time to come and we only got 4 pieces. We didn't want to wait for more so we just shared. The fact that the butter was putrid made us not really fancy anything more anyway. The croissants were stale too. I left feeling nervous that we were all going to end up ill. Thankfully we didn't. It made me wonder about hygine in the kitchen. We would not have eaten there in the evening if I'd already experienced breakfast.

Asked to change date as couldn’t make it due to car problems was broken down with no means of getting there, considering this is a family run hotel and it was my partners 40th birthday you would think as a good will gesture they would of give me a change of date option but they just give me a curfew of getting there for 11pm or don’t bother coming and took my money very poor service.

Only availed ourselves of the pub restaurant. Lovely antipasti. Filled oatcakes for both of us. Sticky toffee puddings. The local beer was good too/

Really enjoyed our afternoon tea here. Had a couple of Groupon vouchers which made it great value. There was plenty of food, and everything tasted freshly made. The little cheesecakes were fabulous. We had to pay extra if we wanted coffee which we were surprised about. Also, one of the windows was being fixed or replaced, so there was a lot of banging going on, but staff were very apologetic. Even so, we enjoyed ourselves and were glad we had picked this place. The photo is of afternoon tea for 2 people.

We stayed here as a family of 4 for 1 night after visiting Alton Towers for the day. What a beautiful place!! The staff couldn't have been more helpful, we were late checking in as towers was open until 8pm so I called ahead to say we would not arrive until 9.30pm, it wasn't an issue, they even offered to have the chef stay so we could eat when we got there, we declined but were really grateful for their thoughtfulness after such a long day!! The room was gorgeous, we were in room 23 that has recently been renovated and I can't fault it, it really is beautiful, yes they are prefab buildings in the grounds of the inn but they are beautiful, high quality, safe and self contained mini apar**ents and it was wonderfully warm and cosy on arrival with lots of storage space. We had a double bed and a bunk bed for the kids. It was clear the bedding and pillows were all new, the carpet was plush and the fittings ( bedside lamps, mirrors etc) were high quality. I would have happily stayed another week in this room. The shower/ bath was huge and hot water a plenty. Breakfast is a continental and was included in the price and there was every cereal you could want, plus toast, yoghurt, fruit, tea, coffee juice etc and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. My son had an english breakfast at a cost of just £6 which was a very reasonable price for 1 sausage, 2 bacon, beans, fried egg, fried bread and black pudding, it was delicious. I was worried having read some of the reviews but honestly, this place and the owners and staff are fantastic and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Thank you for a wonderful, accomodating, friendly stay, we will definately be back.

Avoid Sunday lunches reheated meat soggy flat Yorkshire pudding same for the roast potatoes as for the veg it comes in small pieces obviously from a frozen supermarket supplier that is then either boiled or microwaved to the maximum blandness

We had a lovely stay here, comfy bed, clean facilities, tasty food but honestly the best part of our stay was the staff. Without help from them (Lee in particular) we wouldn't have had the great start to our visit to Alton towers that we did. Warm and welcoming and went out of their way to help, for which we couldn't be more grateful!
