Breakfast is not really included as such. Only the continental buffet. This is cereal, fruits, cereal bars, baked items and a large selection of cakes, including mince pies, which was odd for breakfast. The hot breakfast requires a surcharge to be paid, something I’ve never experienced before. The full English would be best described as part English breakfast, with no sausages, tomatoes, or mushrooms included which is a bit of an insult when you’re paying a surcharge. I can’t fault the service, or anything else, but this felt a bit naughty to be doing.

We stayed for 2 nights on the way back from the Lakes to go to Alton Towers. I would describe it more as an old holiday park than an Inn/Country House. We stayed in Chatsworth - 2 adults and two kids. Broken door handle, kids bedside lights not working, missing remote control and non existent Wi-FI which we were told was down to a busy network or our devices. Also told we are the first to mention problems with the WiFi including in Chatsworth which, looking back at previous reviews isn’t accurate. Setting expectations would help especially when travelling with kids who rise early (before our allotted breakfast time-slot which we found out on arrival was a requirement), and paying an expensive room rate. Or even offering a drink on the house. We drove passed a lot of alternative options.

First I would like to say that the staff were welcoming. I had a one night stay with The continental breakfast it had a good selection, however if you wanted anything cooked it was £6 including full English, Or two small pancakes were also £6. The beds were clean but the room had a smell, the hot water was supplied by a small boiler so it run out quickly. It was okay for one night but would not want to stay longer

Third stay, will be back for a fourth! We stay at the D&P when we visit Alton Towers, it’s only a 20 minute drive and a fab location for a few nights stay Staff a super friendly, food is great, rooms are spot on. Definitely recommend the D&P if you’re in the area

Very clean and room nice and warm. Found the beds uncomfortable and room could do with updating looking a little tired. Hosts very welcoming & friendly.

Stayed two nights at this lovely Inn and Hotel. The staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout. When checking in we were handed a good information sheet and guided through its map (5 acres grounds) to our room No. 9. Good sized room with double bed and extendable single bed. Clean room with good tv, tea, coffee and kettle. Bathroom compact having a toilet, sink and L shaped bath with excellent shower and good powerful hot water. As a couple of 75+ year olds having some mobility issues, we were well aware in advance that access on this hotel nestling in the Derbyshire hillside might prove a bit of a challenge with our wheelchair. However this really was not the case as access slopes and ramps were provided, so we had better access than many of other so called “accessible “ hotels that we have stayed in previously. Perhaps the only improvements that would have helped us were if the L shaped bath be changed to a walk in shower and to have a comfort height toilet - perhaps the management might consider this when they next refurbish one or more rooms. It is for this reason that I have to reluctantly deduct one star from my rating. Food and drink were excellent and priced at a sensible level - special mention for the Staffordshire oat cake smoked salmon with dreamy sauce & the chilli. As a central location for visiting Chatsworth we could not have chosen better & Dovedale, Matlock Bath, Ashbourne are all close by, so that even for our short stay we were able to pack in a lot. Would not hesitate to recommend and hope to return.

Odd & disappointing stay, we had booked two nights either side of a visit to Alton Towers but only stayed one, checked out early. Loose uneven paving slabs outside conservatory. Musty damp smelling room, dated decor, tiny uncomfortable bed, small double I think, mouldy bits on bathroom wall. Paper thin walls, could hear next doors conversation. Fire alarm went off at 5am, dogs barking for ages afterwards, nobody seemed bothered when I mentioned it at breakfast, the reception lady blamed it on the people who had serviced them earlier in the week. Later as we checked out reception said it was due to a man in room 10 having a fag before work & that he was so so sorry 😂 🤦🏻‍♀️ There is a weird shop type bit as you walk through to have breakfast selling gift type things that people never buy, looked like they’d been there years, probably had. Dead Insects on window sills in conservatory where we had breakfast which was different..stale pastries, empty jam jars lined up without lids, no milk alternatives (was afraid to ask) tasteless fruit, pickled onions & gherkins?! Cheap cardboard bread, we had to ask for our drinks as they never arrived & there was only one other couple in there at the time..just all a bit odd really. Didn’t see the point in arguing our case as I’d read the responses to negative reviews on here which I’m sure I’ll get to this 🤷🏻‍♀️ just a truthful review. It was a waste of hard earned money. A real shame as we were really looking forward to it. Has a Nice big Garden, beautiful views. Local town, Ashbourne is lovely.

The accomodation was fine. Reasonably clean and comfortable. The evening meal was nothing to write home about but it was ok. Breakfast was disappointing. Thankfully I noticed that the raspberries were covered in mould before my three year old ate any. The butter tasted sour and off- I couldn't eat it and had to take the butter covered toast from my 8 month old baby who was already munching away. We ordered toast for the table (of 5 people). It took a long time to come and we only got 4 pieces. We didn't want to wait for more so we just shared. The fact that the butter was putrid made us not really fancy anything more anyway. The croissants were stale too. I left feeling nervous that we were all going to end up ill. Thankfully we didn't. It made me wonder about hygine in the kitchen. We would not have eaten there in the evening if I'd already experienced breakfast.
