I have stayed at this property several times over the past few years, for one night each year in December while traveling to West Virginia. It has always been a pretty good place to stay, but it seems that the experience may vary depending on what room you are given. This time I was in room 130, which had a pretty old heating/AC unit (see photos) that does not allow you to set a desired temperature like 68 degrees, but has buttons for heat, cool, fan, etc. and a dial for cooler, warmer, etc. This system does not work nearly as well as the newer units that other rooms at this property have. It was a cold night, so I set it for "low heat," and it just ran constantly all night. I had to get up and adjust it a couple of times because it kept getting too hot in the room. It definitely needs to be replaced with a newer unit that can better regulate the temperature. Also, some of the outlets in the room, including one on the bedside lamp, are very, very loose. So loose that anything plugged into them, like a phone charger, won't even make a connection with the wires. This is not only annoying, it can be a fire hazard as well. Other than those issues, the room was comfortable and clean. The bed was comfortable and everything else was in good working order. The included breakfast was pretty good, and they had a good variety of items available. The staff members were very friendly and helpful and made check-in and check-out quick and easy. So I think this is still a good place to stay for a night or two. They just need to take care of some minor maintenance issues, at least in room 130.
