This place was amazing. The location of Camara de Lobos was perfect. A lovely fishing village bay. The hotel was split into 2 buildings, the reception building and the main room stay and restaurant building. The reception building has a bar and various relaxing areas and a few stay room above. The other building, the main stay, has 2 floors for rooms and the 3rd floor has the restaurant, pool and sun beds area. The 2nd floor is the best because of the views down into the bay. When we first saw this place on Jet2 we thought it would be higher up the hillside, but this wasn’t the case, it is at street level. Food in the restaurant was good and they couldn’t do enough to satisfy your needs, from requesting ice and drinks to take to your room but going the whole 9 yards. Carolina was our waitress of our stay, whether she served us in the restaurant or at the dock bar by reception. Always smiling and couldn’t do enough for you. We was celebrating our 50 anniversary and the hotel left us a gift, drink and cakes etc, after the first week and wine and cakes on our actual anniversary. Thee receptionist gave good information regarding places to visit from either local buses to taxes etc. They organised a trip by mini bus for a tour of the east of the island.

Great hotel. It’s in an excellent location, right across from one of the rock pools and less than ten minute walk to the other. The interiors are lovely. Although I suspect newly refurbished as things like the doors etc are still outdated. Lovely staff and great check in process, complete with welcome drink. Judite was amazing. You get free passes to the Piscina Natural On the roof is an infinity pool with gorgeous 360 views! No conditioner in bathroom and I didn’t love the restaurant. No ambiance or music and in direct line of reception. Overall we loved our stay here and would absolutely recommend.

Location of hotel is excellent with many Funchal sites very close by. The staff were friendly and helpful. I am a handicapped man, and the staff were kind to help me out with all requests. The breakfast selections were wonderful and changed up a bit each day. The rooftop bar was a haven of relaxation with great views of city. The hotel lobby area is very nicely appointed with many antiques great for photos. The hotel's restaurants were close by, and food was healthy and filling with many local favorite dishes. Improvements could be made in the following areas: 1. Hand sanitizer station should be placed as you enter breakfast room. 2. Housekeeping needs to check items in room to see if items need to be replaced, towels renewed, etc. Many requests I had to front desk to housekeeping were not fulfilled! 3. Air conditioning in room was very weak. Could not get room cooled off. It helped that window opens for the air outside was cooler than in the room. Despite the above items, I would return to this hotel anytime and would highly recommend this hotel any visit to Madeira. Thank you for a lovely visit!

Saga holiday which I found was great value staying in this delightful small hotel in an ideal location. I chose this resort for the peace and tranquillity that I desired and because I hadn’t really experienced the North coast on my travels to Madeira in the past. The hotel has good facilities for swimming and low impact sport. Dining was better than I expected and the menus were varied and adequate. The staff were exceptional and couldn’t be more friendly. If you are a photographer you will not be disappointed with the location and accessibility of locations that are fantastic to just wander about in, admiring the views. The scenery is quite outstanding. Travel to local locations is fairly simple by public transport or the shuttle bus which the hotel provides for visits to Sao Vicente. Reception can provide details on travel requirements and trips throughout the island. Whilst at the hotel I travelled to local locations, to Funchal and to Nuns Valley. There was always something to do at the resort and I was lucky during my stay to have great weather. The clientele were from all over Europe and the Saga group which I was part of were extremely friendly and a pleasure to be in the company of. I didn’t encounter any downside during my visit. Yes, the hotel could do with a slight makeover but this shouldn’t distract anyone for visiting. If you are requiring a break simply to recharge yourself then this is an ideal location.

I highly recommend it, the reception staff were very nice and helpful, the rooms were cleaned every day, a nice view from the balcony, there is no air conditioning, but there is a fan. Nice, large rooms, large and comfortable beds, shower gel in the bathroom and towels changed every day. Rooftop swimming pool and sun loungers. Tasty breakfasts, regularly replenished, good juices and coffee, the only thing is that there are no vegetables for a sandwich.

This was a nice hotel but was very tired and like stepping back in time to the 80's. Decor and furnishings very old fashioned . Areas in hotel.scruffy and tired. Suite waste of space having kitchen ..no need . Make it 2 bedrooms instead. Kitchen was scruffy and useless. No hotel information pack in rooms..thought this was odd . Not 5 star luxury at all, rough cheap towels and cheap toilet paper . Bed really uncomfortable had to ask for bed matress topper . Sofa uncomfortable too . This hotel need a definite makeover with a modern look to be any where near its 5 star claim. Pools were too cold to use..so defeated the object . Outside crazy golf ..rubbish ,tacky and scruffy . Terrible view of wasteland in a mess. Shame.. Evening Entertainment pants and room had no atmosphere. Old fashioned Says near beach but sea dangerous xant go in and beach rocks . Snack bar with food wasn't kept hot could be an issue . Positives Pool area nice , Inc nice pool bar ..view out to see nice . We stayed at this hotel twice and have booked it again. It’s a budget-friendly place in the very centre of Funchal. It has everything we need really - the rooms are spacious, there’s always hot water in the shower, the rooms are cleaned every day. Faultless, fast WiFi (crucial if you are working remotely or travelling with a teen). Massive kudos to the amazing staff - they are very friendly and courteous. The location is perfect for sightseeing in Funchal or getting to other places in Madeira.
