We are just back from our week at the Salmakis, I rated it as average because it doesn't meet very good. Warning to anyone who isn't physically mobile! As mentioned in the Jet2 brochure this hotel is on a hill, daily if your room is either at reception level or a couple of floors below you will be walking down and up (*************) to get to the outdoor pool, restaurant, snack bar and beach. There is a lift but it doesn't go as far down as the snack bar and beach. Positive points (fitness) - you will be fitter after your holiday here especially if you choose to walk down the hill (and back up!) to Bodrum marina. Staff in the main are really good and helpful but there doesn't appear to be much communication between the room cleaning team and maintenance, the rail in our bath broke off the wall but the cleaning team didn't report it to maintenance. It was a small point but shows gaps in service. The food in our opinion most of the meat and fish was overcooked with very little taste, the breakfast omelettes were good and our favourite! The food did improve after 1st May and the fish a la carte restaurant main course (seabass) was great. In fairness to the catering team when the hotel is gearing up for the main season it is a balancing act. Our room was okay but the air con was a bit hit-and-miss, we suspect it will be great when the weather is much warmer. The staff in the restaurant and snack bar were great and a credit to the management team. The room cleaning team don't appear to communicate when there is a problem in the bedrooms and bathrooms, the handle on the bath wall broke but the cleaner didn't appear to report it. For us the Salmakis didn't live up to our previous Jet2 holiday experience, however other reviews shows how we all have different expectations. Wishing all who read this a fab holiday wherever you go.
