Positives: Wonderful Ranch, great layout, fantastic food, great accommodations and warm and friendly staff. Negatives: 1400 acres with maybe half of it at best due to daily operations, suitable to hunt turkeys. When we arrived, we were informed that no gobblers had been seen or heard for two weeks, followed by, only one gobbler taken on the ranch in two years. 5 gobblers, 4 jakes and a few hens were all they had seen this spring. That was not the story when booking the hunt. Arguably, not enough to have a sustainable hunting program by any stretch. With three hunters there, had we filled two tags each, it would have decimated the flock, no professional resource management given this scenario. Sad situation in my opinion. Guides were friendly, but not seasoned turkey hunters and had no direct bead on where birds were at the time or their daily patterns. Truth be told, during our time there, they were roosting off the property, and the Ranch had no backup parcels to cover unforeseen circumstances, or lack of birds. Despite all this, I had one gobbler cross onto the property and closing under 200 yards only to go silent and never heard from again when the ranch truck pulled in directly in front of us a little over 100 yards to release pheasants for the soon to start bird hunt over dogs. My guide told me that the hunting manager is always aware of our location, and this is unacceptable and unprofessional for allowing ranch operations of one type of hunt to directly interfere with another. This is not my first rodeo with nearly a dozen successful hunts in the great state of Texas, and thirty-one spring and fall turkey seasons under my belt, and this was a dismal hunting experience. I have not been contacted by anyone on staff and was told that the incident with the hunt interrupted was communicated. Given what we learned upon arriving and not given reasonable choices to hunt gobblers where they actually are, the hunt should have been canceled and refunded. I was offered an even swap for a whitetail doe the first evening, and I declined as I came to turkey hunt. They are not set up in so many ways, in my opinion to offer a quality turkey hunt.

The property was fine....room was fine... the location was perfect for what I wanted.... the staff ....well the concept of hospitality was lacking. First, I called and asked about a slightly early checkin, and was told no because of how busy they were. When I got there, well they clearly were not busy. That I could have overlooked, but when I arrived at the property at the proper time, it was hard to understand where to check in. So I called, and they immediately put me on hold, and then after sitting for 10 minutes, hung up on me. So finally I found a sign that stated check in a the "pro shop" which was at the back of the property. I went there, no cars in the parking lot, no one in the pro shop, so know reason to put me on hold and then hang up. When I went to check in, I said nothing about any of this, just asked for my room. The lady was very put out about helping me, she showed me where to go on a map, but when I asked her about where we were on the map, she was really put out. And then she couldn't figure it out and got more put out. She didn't know what building she was in, on HER OWN MAP. So I had to just drive around to find the rooms. And as I was walking out the door, she yelled at me that if I wanted to eat at the property , it would take a reservation.... I said, not to worry about that.

We had a super fun family reunion at the ranch July 2023. We rented the Tree House, Covey House and Porch house for (4 week day) nights. Ages were 9 yrs to 79 yrs. So many activities for all ages, Of course some did the clay shooting, long- range shooting, swimming, kayaking, fishing, steak night and lots of family games. One afternoon some went to a close by winery for a tasting and another day to Fiesta Texas. We ate all of our meals at the Tree House (except for steak night.} Meals were prepared by family. That takes some planning, but so worth it. We ALL thought it was an amazing place to stay. Great fun for all, as well as getting to know each other better. Laura Moore was very helpful in pulling this together for us.

The place is very very nice and super quiet at night. No complaints at all. The staff is great! Wish we could swim in the creek but we couldn't due to the low levels. Hopefully we will be able to on our next stay. Didnt get to do any shooting but there will be other opportunities.

A beautiful place for a weekend and the men enjoyed some sporting clay shooting. I felt the food let it down a tad. But then I like my food.
