We stayed at Cocos 6 nights at the end of March to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We had a great time and the day after our return I wrote a lengthy review for Trip Advisor in which I dispelled a lot of the negative criticism I had seen other travelers complain about and gave the venue an rating of excellent. Somehow that review was never published on here. So why the rating of terrible now? I had paid for a private transfer to and from the airport up front but on the day we left the staff accidentally put us in a taxi instead. Not that big of a deal but I still had to pay for the taxi as well at that point. That was another $40. Cocos staff knew of the mistake because they called the taxi driver on our way to the airport to inform him of the mix up. When I got home, I emailed the staff and requested a refund. They said my refund request had been forwarded to the proper department for action. Two weeks later when I inquired about the status, I got a similar response. Several weeks after our return, I filed a dispute with my credit card company. I guess Cocos fought it. Despite the fact that I provided email traffic where the hotel admitted they made a mistake, the credit card company sided with them and is reinstating the charge. Cocos basically stole $75 from me and is not giving it back. You cannot take people's money for a service you do not provide, admit to it and then there be no repercussions. I have seen other reviewers have issues in getting refunds from Cocos but I always thought their requests were for reasons that were more their fault as opposed to the hotel. I honestly hate this since we had such a good time there but I will not return.
