I have never really written reviews for properties on ******* previously. This is the first one. I stayed in this place in Aug 2022 while on TMB. I could not find a refuge on the trail and decided to try this venue. I will absolutely do it all over again. To begin with, the owner, Alfred, was very responsive before the trip. He initiated contact through ******* and made sure that we were on the same page in terms of arrival and departure schedule and made restaurant recommendations. We arrived much later than expected and was pleasantly surprised that Alfred had been waiting outside for us to make sure that we did not miss the property. He made sure we had everything we need. The place was very nicely decorated, homey and clean. Wifi works perfectly fine. It really rejuvenated us after a long day of hike. We took a taxi from Les Chapieux because we missed the bus, but we were able to take the shuttle the next day to get back to the trail.

I had a horrible experience with this place. I booked several weeks ahead, writing that I was specifically coming to use the funicular, which is a major attraction in the city. The establishment concealed the fact that it was closed for construction until after the cancellation period for the booking expired. When I pointed out that this behaviour was disappointing they wrote back that I should have prepared my trip better! Adding insult to injury since I had specifically stated out the goal of the trip to them well ahead of time; and the funicular doesn't have decent information online. Do not count on honest behaviour from this place.
