I have stayed here before as I like this place another. I requested a room by phone away from the road but was put in room 12 next to the constant noise of the A35. After paying a lot of money for my break I would have expected my request to be honoured. Disappointing.

If you accept that this is a Golf Club and Spa with rooms, then it’s worth 5 stars. The room was clean and warm, with a huge and comfortable bed. A heated towel rail that you could switch on when needed was a nice touch …… and the view over the 18th hole wasn’t bad either! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, making us feel very much at home. Breakfasts were excellent. It was nice to have freshly cooked food rather than the tired looking buffets that so many hotels now offer. The other meals were of typical golf club standard, but then it was only a few minutes into the town for a range of restaurants. Had we used the spa facilities it would have been an excellent deal. Nevertheless, it still represented good value for money.

Room was lovely clean and spacious lovely views of the golf course too. The only thing which let it down was that you have to ask reception for additional coffee and tea etc as the room isn’t cleaned etc when unless you request this from Reception. I’ll happily make the bed etc I don’t mind but I would have been nice for additional tea and coffee on the room. But this is personal preference. The hotel was only a 5 min walk from the town which is perfect too
