We called off on our way home and decided to eat here. Big mistakel! We both fancied a Sunday roast. It arrived. I was perplexed by the mound of mash, then beef on top and then crowned with the flattest, dish rag Yorkshire puddings I've seen in my life. They oozed oil and that tasted old re-used oil from a chip pan. Then the vegetables came. A small split dish that turned out to be for us both. I could not believe it. I straight away got the waitress and asked if they were meant for us both and she said yes. So I told her to get some more. She said it will be about 5 minutes. Which it was. Whilst we waited we ate. Red cabbage in some strange syrupy juice than tasted utterly strange. Like rust and dried leaves. Like stale tea leaves. And carrots. Roast potatoes that tasted stale like last week's. When the veg came well, we didn't want it. It was pretty horrific. We were both shocked. We told the waitress how awful it was and she asked how she could change this/make it better? How?? Change your chef!!! Don't go....unless you don't love your stomach and you've money to throw down the sewers.

Stopped in here after a hike for a cheeky bite to eat and drink. The young bar lady was really welcoming, attentive and friendly. The food was really good and lots of options too! It's a quirky old style pub with the low ceilings and wood beams, ******* too so lots of great stories! The only downside was we found it a bit nippy and the toilets had a really weird smell but otherwise what a gem hidden near Bronte.

We booked a family meal for Easter. We were the only customers in the pub when we arrived. The food took over an hour to serve and came in shifts. My wife had finished her meal before mine arrived. Several dishes were over or undercooked. Four meals were sent back. From ordering to receipt of the final meal was 1 hour 25 minutes. The serving staff were very apologetic but seemed to have been abandoned by management. A very unsatisfactory experience. The cost of the food was refunded but the event was ruined. Very poor.

This was our first visit since the inns reopening and we were not disappointed, this beautiful old building in stunning countryside was still as we remembered, lovely cosy surroundings and burning log fires only added to our experience, the staff were very warm and attentive and the food was delicious quite obviously all homemade, terrific value for money couldn't fault our evening, just wish we lived closer but will definitely be back.

Went for lunch yesterday. We were sat at a cold, droughts table. Waitress informed us that they had no ham or mushrooms. I ordered the salmon only to be told that they had no salmon so opted for the chicken. Waited for nearly an hour, could hear other customers complaining and sending food back. Decided to pay for our drinks, went to the bar and there were six other customers paying for drinks only and walking out of the place, complaining about the place being cold, and poor food. No sign of management.

Room was cold. Staying in a pub you expect some noise but I eventually had to go down to the bar to ask for the Music to be turned off at 01:30. Less than ideal when you choose to stay somewhere to prevent having to take an early trip (we had to be up at 06:00 for a local run race) but might as well as we got very little sleep anyway.

Worst meal I have had in a long time. Waiting 1/2 hour for starters and the soup was only lukewarm. Tuna smelt and tasted funny. New potatoes dried up. Ham cut as thick as gammon (didn’t want the gammon). Both fried eggs broken. Chips tasted as if cooked in old oil. Pub also very cold - fires needed to be lit. Lovely old fashioned pub but won’t be going back or recommending!

A fantastic stay at a beautiful location. Traditional, slightly ******* (although I didn’t experience any ghosts, shame really!) and beautiful place to stay. Traditional home cooked food, fantastic service and a great manager. Sean really knows customer service, great rapport building and very knowledgeable on rum. If you are planning a trip to Brontë country, stay here!

This is a spot not to be missed, seriously cute pub with fantastic rooms. The bed was one of the most comfortable EVER and the staff were super friendly! Make sure you stop by!
