This is the second time we visited, the first time wasn't great, but we decided, hey sometimes it's just a bad day. Some decided to give it one more try and now we really it's just bad! We arrived on time and seated, the lady took our drinks order, 20 mins.latwr we still hadn't received our drinks or placed a food order. I managed to.get the one waitress that seemed to be doing everything and politely asked where our drinks were. The lady then took our order. This came out so quickly we had alarm bells, my husband's started was unseasoned and chewy, the terrine although nice was a little bland and could not taste the flavours described on the menu. My husband and I both had the lamb rump, the lady asked if we were.ok with pink!!! Absolutely, it's how it should be. It came out and both of our meat was so overdone and grey, the potatoes dry no flavour, the vegetables were cold and why there was a gem lettuce was very odd again flavourless. Dessert, the pistachio tart, obviously brought in and not much flavour I opted for apple tart and custard, it came out to me uncooked and when I say uncooked I mean it was raw pastry and cold custard. I sent it straight back and asked for the pistachio likey husband and it came out with the pastry smooshed and the waitress that brought it to me just threw it on the table. We have been left so disappointed. There is no food love here, it is cheap products and generic poor food establishment that seems to want to churn out awful food. It's a shame as it's beautiful inside and a lovely garden. The food and service is just horrendous.

I booked a superior room, and was given the Branston suite which was excellent. There was plenty of space, and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was lovely, and the shower extremely efficient.

We booked the restaurant in advance and when we arrived on time, we had to wait 10/15 minutes for our table to be cleaned and readied for us, which was strange because the restaurant was not that busy. When we were asked what we would like to eat we were told that there was no steak available, very strange for this venue, so I ordered the lamb Chops, at £27:95 quite expensive. The plate consisted of TWO small Lamb Chops and mash potatoes and two asparagus spears, all only warm. Desert I ordered Bakewell Tart and Custard, the tart was again only warm and the custard, what little there was, was cold. We tried to order a bottle of wine which was shown on the menu as available, apparently wasn't as they delisted this wine some weeks ago but did not remove from the menu, so an inferior wine was chosen, not very good. Our bill came to £160 + which when considering the service and quality of the food, I felt that was rather expensive, especially the Lamb Chops at £27:95, Again when asking to pay our bill all the staff had disappeared and we again waited 10 mins to find someone who could take our payment, so I will not be returning any time soon and would suggest others might think twice.

This is an excellent inn with great dinning and accommodation. The decor and the accommodation is so relaxing and the riverside walks are great. The best of all are the staff. They are so polite and all go over and above their duties to make your stay memorable.

Chef & Brewer Family gathering. Riverside was the venue originally but had to be changed as the party of people was too large to accommodate 20 people. So the meal for evening event was held at the Waterfront. My wife and I ordered a Sauvignon blanc and a Guinness followed by a meal each from the lunch menu. During our meal some more (4)of our party members arrived and also ordered drinks and meals. At just gone 2pm my wife and I checked in. The room was clean and tidy and very attractively decorated and to a good standard. Some more of our party then arrived and we ordered coffees and we all wanted cream that was the clincher of having the coffee. But when it came to the coffees having cream, the cream in the jug was off. The bar staff said he’d fetch some but came back saying they were out of cream. During this time my wife and my cousin had gone to find somewhere to sit. (Wife on crutches) they asked a member of staff if we could sit at a large table that was not displaying any reservation notice on it. She said she would ask her supervisor/manager. During her absence a male member of staff came over to us and said we could not sit at any of the tables. He was impatiet and clipped in his attitude towards us. (INHOSPITABLE ) We explained there were 8 of us and that we were going to have coffee and we would gladly move if the table was needed. We even explained that we’d eaten there and that a number of us were staying at the hotel and others would be arriving shortly. He said no you can’t sit here find seats in the bar area or outside. He also said it made no difference that we had been residents and had actually eaten and were paying guests. He said you need to understand this is primarily a restaurant. We did go outside as we were now in the predicament of having a number of coffees on a tray and no where to put them down. The coffee was not what we had wanted and we only ordered a coffee with cream because of having cream. It was very disappointing and we consumed it cold as the fact we had to go outside made the beverages go cold very quickly. It was bitterly cold outside and it rained heavily on several occasions. We did end up sitting outside for a long period of time until we could not stand the cold any longer. More members of our gathering arrived. We were all purchasing beverages and the bar was now crowded and sitting on the high stools for any length of time for my wife was not an option. We asked a different member of bar staff if she could find us a suitable spot. We were really cold and quite frustrated by this time. It must have been about 4pm by now. The very pleasant staff member did come back to us and said we could use the table, as long as we vacated it by 7:30pm. This was perfect we only needed it for about an hour-hour. Some members of our group enquired about bar hours for guests. He was told that if we returned after 11pm the bar and beverages were not available. That evening when we returned from our meal it wa
