I stayed in this hotel over the Bank Holiday weekend from Sat 4 to Mon 6 May. I thought the hotel was rather shabby despite its recent renovation, but it was overall reasonable value, especially since I had made my booking some months in advance. My experience in the hotel was, however, overshadowed by the fact that throughout my stay I had no hot water in the shower. I arrived on Sat afternoon and wanted to take a shower before I went out for dinner, but was frustrated by the absence of hot water. I reported this to the front desk on leaving the hotel, but the desk was unattended on my return later in the evening so I was not able to check on progress. The next morning, there was again no hot water, which again I reported to the front desk and asked them please to have it fixed. On my return to the hotel in the evening, I was assured by the front desk staff that an engineer had visited during the day and that the shower was working. Nevertheless, the next morning there was still no hot water. I spent three days (two nights) in the hotel unable to take a shower. This is quite unacceptable.

Very disappointing. Beautiful setting however the condition of the place is without doubt the worst I have known. Advertised as having a spa, however its more of a time machine. Old and decrepit equipment and facilities that were out of order or faulty, including the showers. The whole place was filthy, dusty and mouldy, see pictures below. Not at all what I had expected. Speaking to other guests I found I was not alone, and several had made complaints.

The hotel is seems to be functioning on life support. No main reception (no staff), ground floor shut etc.
Asked for a drink from the bar and told that it was shut - which is fine. Subsequently asked the manager if we could have room service, she aggressively replied that this was not a service they offered and anyway she couldn’t serve us as my wife was slurring her words. Utterly untrue. Have genuinely never been spoken to like that in a hotel before
Manger the next day was professional and apologetic but sadly too little too late. Terrible.

Great value hotel with spacious rooms & bathrooms, lovely gym and spa. Common living areas are a bit sp**** and lacking in furniture & warmth but there is a nice cafe in the spa with decent food (daytime only).

I booked an Annex room which stated you had WiFi but it didn’t as it was a 5 min walk from the hotel!!!
No heating, and the TV had no channels!
If I could have had a refund, I would have left!!
Receptionist said she would try and find me another room in the hotel.
Beth came and upgraded me to a room in the hotel, I said I do not mind paying extra but she insisted.
My new room was huge but the radiator behind the curtain probably needed to be bled so I was grateful for the free standing heater.
There was also a family of ladybirds in the room which I was uncomfortable with!!
