Good location, close to Stockport town centre and around 20 minutes to the centre of Manchester. Staff are friendly and it’s very quiet

Stayed for 4 nights. Big bedroom and tv. Paul on reception was great! He was welcoming and helpful. I can’t fault the hotel, or the breakfast. I would recommend it It is at the end of a estate but it is right by the river Goyt Steve and Alison from Salisbury

The Hotel is located at the end of a Housing Estate and the Postcode on the Website does not take you there. I had to ask a local. Huge Car Park and easy check- in. The rooms are spacious and modern with elaborate tea and coffee making facilities. Lovely modern shower and bath room. My cousin and I ate in the lounge as the Restaurant wasn’t open. We ordered coconut and prawns in a chile dip. Alas we couldn’t taste the coconut. Just as we were about to start they brought out our main course- which I told them to take back. When the mains arrived my linguine was cold and my cousins medium rare steak was well done. Both were sent back. 15 minute later I received spaghetti bolognaise- I sent for the manager who was excellent and we got free drinks. I had also ordered a Malbec bottle from the bar and the bar person started looking for it in the chiller. I told him it was a red wine. I am afraid the serving staff are not well trained but the Hungarian lady front of house was really good. But not good enough as I don’t think I will return

On the plus side the exterior and reception area are impressive. The receptionist was helpful and friendly. Plenty of parking. The room was clean and comfortable although the decor was a bit dated and dingy. Two of the lights didn’t work. It was warm, probably too warm in hot weather. Also, having read the reviews about noise, we were relieved to find it very quiet. There are endless corridors with blank walls. Why no pictures? We didn’t have breakfast so I can’t comment. We needed somewhere to stay overnight whilst attending a family event. It served the purpose in providing a restful night.

The hotel is historic, beautifully maintained, and very comfortable. Angela at the front desk was wonderful in assisting the group I was with (EF tour). She took us on a tour through a secret passageway that ended in the Hall. Angela also arranged laundry service and provided fans in the rooms for members of my group; she was incredibly helpful. James the bartender / server was fun and very attentive to my husband and I. We are from the states and will definitely be returning.

Where do I start, On arrival we needed a shower, towels were all brown stained which I immediately took to reception and complained only to get another two, At six o'clock we were having a drink in the bar as it was a special occasion for us when a full bus of about 40 Hen party arrived in reception, we jokingly said watch our room be right in the middle of these , and guess what , yes, we were, So from 1am till 3:30am all we had was them up and down the corridors, swearing and shouting , talking in the corridors which felt like they were in our room it was so loud, at one point they were running up and down banging on our door and others I'm sure. I just can't believe we would have been put with a hen party, it's a big hotel and I'm sure they'll have been another room away from then as the hotel wasn't busy. So we paid £169 for dirty towels and to be kept awake all night by a drunken party of women swearing and shouting for nearly three hours .I guess the security guard must have been asleep !!!!!! It's just a pure joke of a hotel Basically if you're going here to get drunk and rowdy with your mates is a perfect place, if you want a lovely peaceful stay PLEASE forget this hotel , I'd have rather stayed in a £30 a night B+B I have the operations managers card from reception and will be expecting an explanation , even the receptionist on the morning we left couldn't believe we'd been given that room with a hen part all around us , there isn't a box for a minus but believe me if there was that's what this hotel would get !!!!!!!!

Truly appalled! I have been here over several years for a fun weekend and dance with breakfast, was always fit for purpose, clean. However the last time I visited there was children roaming around the corridors unattended. Very empty unclean, and minimal staff who on the whole didn't seem overly happy to be there. Probably the end of an era for me. Which is a shame as had good memories of it in the past. Since new management t took over. Decor had been refurbished very cheap as of on a budget. Which is a sad thing for a historical 70s hotel,it's character has been removed

The noise from the people / kids on the top floor is ridiculous. They should be accommodated on the ground floor. Why should guests who pay in excess of £100 to stay one night have to put up with a bunch of inconsiderate noisy kids running and stomping around like it’s a playground until midnight? One kid on the top floor walked down stairs with a scooter. Reception staff blatantly lie (either that or they’re deaf) and say they can’t hear any noise. The hotel must be making a lot of money housing their ‘long term guests’. They don’t care how the noise levels impacts on other paying guests. Hotel is in nice location, rooms are nice but the noise from the people on the top floor is a huge let down. Not worth the money. I don’t recommend staying at this hotel at all, it’s simply not worth the money.

We stayed in room 235 we took our dog, on arrival reception staff 1st class, room very clean and tidy, breakfast was superb excellent service by BILL very professional, only downside was noise above our room in the early evening. We were visiting our daughter and would not hesitate in using the hotel again
