B&B HOTEL Bremen-Überseestadt

First of all, the staff were not welcoming or friendly. The hotel is the first I've seen that operates a code system for the rooms. The first room we tried to check-in to, the code did not work. We went to reception and they gave us another code, which also did not work. No matter, they switched us to another room. This time the code did work, but there was an unpleasant smell coming from the drains. You needed to keep the bathroom door shut or the whole room would smell bad. The room was small but adequate, comfortable bed. I also paid for use of the underground parking. This is another code. It worked the first time, no problem. However, after we used the car the next day to visit Hamburg. We returned late in the evening with the car and the code to enter the car park no longer worked. The reception was closed and there is no number to call. There does not seem to be any way of contacting the hotel management when the reception is closed, which is concerning if your room code suddenly stops working. We could not access the car park and had to park some distance away on the street and walk back to the hotel in the pouring rain. The next morning, I went to the front desk to complain about the parking code the night before, I was told to email the hotel to ask for a refund of the parking charge. I did this immediately and more than a week later, have not received any reply or refund. Very disappointing and I would hesitate to stay at another B&B hotel.

Nice, very clean hotel. Nothing fancy, but nice. Good customer service. I would give four stars to the breakfast buffet if I could, but everything else is 5 stars.

Suitable for families, even with small kids!

Dangerous for children!! Windows unsafe!! The reason for 1 star review is that it was possible to open the window fully onto the street below. The room was on the first floor. There was no railing or balcony, just a sheer drop. Having a child with autism, this was incredibly dangerous! We tried to alert staff but couldn't find anyone available between 7.30am and 8.45am whenever we checked. The car park instructions were clear to get in (check in required first for instructions), however getting out again was unclear. Having seen me wandering around looking confused and trying to press the code in the access machine outside, a member of the public in the street told me to pull a red string hanging from the ceiling in the garage to open the door. Would have been helpful to know this beforehand. The hotel was otherwise clean and comfortable but our stay was overshadowed by serious safety concern.
