April 18, 2024
From Sunday, April 14 - Monday, April 15, 2024, my mom and I stayed at Holiday Inn Express Brentwood-South. My mom is an organ transplant patient/recipient at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and she had a morning appoin**ent and an afternoon appoin**ent at the 100 Oaks location off I-65. I booked this hotel because: A - Location: the hotel is a 10 mile drive North on I-65 and clear of the Nashville congestion; B - the hotel was very reasonably priced; C - the breakfast options are amazing; and D - we had a great stay June 2023. Unfortunately, this time our stay was disappointing. The gentleman at the front desk welcomed us back when I mentioned we stayed there once before and he accommodated our request for a room on the first floor, Room #103. He was nice, however it wasn’t the same kind of reception we received there last year or at other IHG brand hotels. He didn’t rush or anything like that however we felt more like numbers than valued guests. The a**osphere wasn’t as welcoming, like they were happy we chose to stay at their hotel. The room was worn a little in spots but very clean. My mom being a transplant recipient and being immuno compromised that is what matters and we were very glad for that. There was a plug-in air freshener in the hall near our room that was very strong and aggravated our allergies some but we adjusted and it became tolerable. However, the mini fridge was barely cool and there was nothing in it, like a knob or anything to adjust the temperature. We went to the front desk and explained the problem to the other front desk gentleman and, with my consent, returned to the room with us to check it. He said it was cool but offered to move us to a different room. However he said they’re the same in every room. The mini fridge in our room last year was cooler like a normal fridge. We brought protein shakes in an insulated bag with multiple blue ice packs to boost my mom’s nutritional needs and after they are chilled but get hot again they are no good anymore. We also lost a couple of small milks we had. We had no way to keep them cool enough and no way to cool the ice packs again at all and we ended up throwing the protein shakes and milks in the garbage because they were no longer any good. We walked by the pool to see if it was open. It wasn’t however that’s never a make or break when choosing a hotel. I was just going to enjoy it if it was. We went back into the hotel and decided to utilize the fitness room. However, after stepping into the room and looking at the equipment we changed our mind. The fitness room had a smell and the equipment was dirty. Being super susceptible to infections and illness, we didn’t want to risk her ending up admitted to the hospital for utilizing them so we walked back out. Walking back towards our room, we noticed and remembered they had complimentary coffee in the lobby. The coffee was hot and had multiple creamer options and the coffee was very good. With the excepti
