The Great House Hotel

We have just enjoyed a wonderful Sunday afternoon tea at the Great House.Excellent value with a good choice of treats.We all said a really good spread and even a few dairy free treats for the toddler.Plenty of tea and coffee and all saved in traditional china.Service was prompt but in no way did we feel rushed.Very freshly made which is so unusual nowadays ,well recommended and thank you again

I visited for Afternoon Tea with friends, we had great service and the chef made one totally gluten free, it was all delicious. We would definitely revisit. If requesting gluten free I would pre book to make sure the chef has plenty of time to prepare.

Stayed here for a wedding. Lovely hotel even though a little pricy. Staff pleasant and room was lovely Breakfast tasty and everything was served hot. Perfect place for a wedding. We have stayed in a boutique hotels before and this one is one of our favourites now

The Great House Hotel did not dissapoint, the staff, service and food was totally amazing, nothing to fault at all. We had a wonderful night at the Great House Hotel nothing was too much trouble and the Friday night taster course was fabulous. Thank you for a wonderful time.

Looked after me while staying for a long weekend with friends. Food, drink and service amazing quality. Slightly disappointing that my room wasn’t as nice as other peoples rooms were but was a base and didn’t spend an awful a lot of time in there. All staff were very welcoming and happy to help. Would love to come and visit again.

Great service and a fantastic meal we could not fault. We will definitely visit again. All 3 courses were delicious and well presented. I ordered the soup which was so tasty and came with bread. My partner ordered scallops which he refused to share! I ordered steak for my main and he ordered Guinea fowl. My steak was huge and I couldn’t finish it! I left a little room for dessert flavours of Black Forest which was a perfect end to the meal. Thank you for a fabulous meal!

Very clean friendly beautiful place

We're quite local, but came here as we had a voucher for the tasting menu & decided to combine it with an overnight stay. There's lots that we really liked about this place, the room was smart, clean & well decorated. The staff throughout were welcoming, attentive & friendly. The tasting menu we had was excellent value; beautifully presented, good quality, tasty & good size portions for that sort of thing. We had a few little gripes, & did consider giving 3 stars due to these but thought the good parts outweighed the negatives. The room was quite cold & very noisy - we were above a loud kitchen fan that woke us up in the early hours & the radiators seemed like they needed bleeding as they didn't give out much heat & were gurgling on & off all night. The vegetarian breakfast was also quite small - I do think just giving a quarter of a mushroom is quite stingy! And I had to ask for toast to go with it... But my husbands scrambled eggs & salmon on toast was a very generous portion. Maybe they assume all veggys are on a diet?! There were other things we could have such as cereal & yogurts to top up if we'd have wanted though. We would definitely go there again to eat, I wouldnt go out of my way to stay there but would happily do so if we had a voucher deal or if we wanted to both have some drinks with our meal - however I'd see if we could get a room not above the kitchen & take a heater during the colder months!

Absolutely outstanding service beautiful Clean lodge and an amazing brekkie what more could we ask for. Came here with my husband for a festive break away and boy we didn’t regret it. !! Absolutely beautiful can’t wait to return here x x x x x xx
