I've been staying here at least a couple of times a year off and on since 1999. Much has changed in the world since then. But, where the Ruby Inn has changed in that time, it's always been for the better. My stay here in 2021 was for the renewed Friends of Bodie Day (Second Saturday in August), which is probably the bst party in the county. Every aspect of this stay was excellent. The spa/hot tub was re-opened as allowed by California law. The upshot here is that everything here works. Which is a rarity in this day and age. In fact, the quaslity of my stay here made my next stop (A Hilton Garden Inn) a serious disappointment. The heat works. The A/C works. The hot water works. The spa/hot tub works. There's even a fly-swatter in a drawer, if you need it. The location is in the heart of ”Beautiful Downtown Bridgeport” (RIP, Gary Owens of KMPC) and is a convenient walk to reasaurants and shopping. Note that if you arrive after the stores and restaurants have closed, the Ruby Inn has a limited selection of snacks and simple to prepare meals available for purchase at the front desk to keep you from going hungry. Also, the fridge here is larger than what I've found at some ”fancier” hotels. The WiFi quality is much better than that found at many hotels. Summary: This is quality and hospitality which used to be the norm in American travel. Both are alive and well at the Ruby Inn. I temper my strong recommend with the admonition that after you stay here, you will likely never be satisfied elsewhere again. It's not just the well-designed and well-kept facility. It's the people here who will amaze you. There are many hotels that are well-designed and well-maintained. But, pitifully few with the people of the caliber that will welcome you to the Ruby Inn.
Very Good
