Dover Beach Hotel

Well just leaving had a great stay room was spotless couldn’t be any better staff were amazing always there to help and greet you only complaint is the bar could be open a bit later but apart from that I’d highly recommend this hotel not expensive at all will be booking up for next year as soon as I get back home thank you Dover beach !!!

Room was dirty, bed had stains on mattress, lampshades were rusty. Safe had no lock on it, toilets stank of sewage. Pool needs a clean. Complained to the manager who was extremely rude. Room 210. See the photos, light fittings were a health and safty issue especially in the humidity.

The most important asset of this hotel is the people working there. The people working at the front desk, the SeaGrape restaurant, the general laborers around the hotel were all friendly and very helpful. When we had problems trying to get transportation or use the bus system the ladies at the front desk were more than happy to help us resolve our issues. No matter the problem someone was looking out for us and made us feel safe and that makes us more likely to come back to this hotel in the future. Perhaps this hotel is not the Ritz, but the people give it character and a homey feeling that the large hotels cannot. What else can I say?

If you don’t have high expectations, it is fine here. The front desk staff is helpful and the location is close to many restaurants. The rooms are spacious and there are nice balconies. Every thing is on slow Barbados time, and property is situated on the beach which is nice. The hotel is tired and old, but so am I so I give it some slack. I’m not sure if they have enough bath towels for all the rooms at the same time… there are days when you’re not sure if you will get clean bath towels before dinner. Do not eat at their SeaGrape Bar and Restaurant, they have terrible food; I had to send back a sandwich because of broken chips of wood toothpicks were within waiting to choke me. And to top it off the thin waitress serving me had such a nasty attitude. Other guests had also mentioned to me their meal horror stories. We arrived at 1 pm and check in is not until 4 pm. They said check in is at 4 pm and they would try to have our room ready early.. we were told to wait on the couch in the lobby or we could use their pool or go to the beach if we wanted to, our room was ready at 5 pm. Toilet seat was broken, safe was unusable, and there are no room clocks. For our convenience there is a pay to use washing machine and dryer. There is a nice enough swimming pool and plenty of lounge chairs and beach towels to use. Again, the staff is nice… just stay away from the restaurant.

My experience was was overall good but they could work on modernizing the property. The beach on the property was my favorite feature.

Good location, close to airport and Oisins by car/bus and walkable to Gap and Worthing. Enough around for a few days. Bit dated condition in some areas, eg shower leaked continually (annoying at night), as did the aircon (although the later they fixed quickly). Weak shower pressure. Rooms have zero sound proofing and hotel attracts big groups - eg uni students, sports teams. Rooms don't have black out curtains, so between the sun and roosters, not much sleep. Huge space, comfy bed, has what you need in the room. Great swimming pools, enough space, on the beach, supermarket nearby, great staff and easy to organise things.

Didn't allow early check in without a fee.. neither did they allow late check out since our flight was at 8pm... very inconvenient..
