Great place to stay. Clean and close to the beach

When we initially arrived and drove by we were a little bit uncertain. The street was very narrow and quite busy. Our double room was small, but clean as was the bathroom. I would say that it is more suited to students and those used to living in multiple occupancy accommodation. We were on the ground floor and could not really hear much noise from outside. Most of the noise and disturbance came from other guests talking outside our room, coming and going and slamming doors into the early hours. We could hear people talking and playing music until 2am. On the positive side there were clean sheets on the bed, clean towels in the bathroom, but it is not somewhere I would return to.

We Love this place. Location couldn’t have been any better. Sheets and towels were fresh and clean. Wi-Fi was super fast and reliable. We Felt extremely safe, security cameras in hall ways etc. We would definitely use this place again. Got a txt after arriving to make sure everything was ok, it was!!

Great location right in the heart of the city, be warned though there are a couple of pubs in the neighbourhood that party late into the night / early hours so if you are a light sleeper this might not be the hotel for you. Disappointing that the overhead shower was not plumbed in only the hand held shower, the water was hot and plentiful though.

I stayed for a night with my boyfriend. Finding the place was easy and fun as we got to see some of the surrounding areas. Walking into the room, I was impressed by the plant paintings and the lighting in the room. A very modern look. The bed was very comfy and clean. The shower was very powerful and toiletries were amazing. The best thing about our room was that you could put your head out the window and admire the sea view as the beach is at the end the same road. Very good location for both the beach and shopping. Overall this place is amazing and we will be back again.

My friend & I decided to pay Blok-74 another visit after staying during Summer 2022. Our first stay was satisfactory other than the windows in the property open fully and do not have the fittings which stop them from opening more than a few centimetres, which when you are in a ground floor room is an issue. Our room on this visit was on the ground floor and backed onto a courtyard and parking area at the rear of the property. I would also mention that our first stay was whilst there were still some Covid measures in place and a lot of hotels had not reopened fully for long. So, for Easter 2023 we decided that as the area that Blok-74 is in is close to The Lanes and the Sea Front we would book again. When we arrived the queue for The Lanes Car Park was causing a traffic jam so we had to find an alternative. We left our luggage in the car & walked to let ourselves in. The no staff business model works in a lot of ways, but you end up letting things go unreported as its too much hassle to phone & text to get things put right. We were in Room 9 on the 3rd level. On first sight the room looked clean & there were no problems. I responded to the text I received to say that all was OK. We dragged our luggage through the streets & then realised getting our bags up the narrow stairs was quite a challenge. The stairs are very steep and very narrow. The lower bannister is damaged with a j-cloth taped to it to alert you to it. The front door has been damaged around the lock and none of the room doors fit very well. At best they have a gap at the base. Some literally rattle in the frame when shut. On inspecting the bathroom I noticed a large crack running down the wall behind the toilet. Paint was peeling from the ceiling in and around the shower. The free toiletries consisted of a pack of conditioner and a pack of body lotion & there was a small hand soap. The beds were reasonably comfortable, unfortunately the pillows were not. I did not look under the sheets as I don't know what I would have done if I had found anything nasty underneath. There was very little hanging space in this room. An integrated cupboard with the door removed with 2 hangers which didn't allow for dresses to hang straight and some taps mounted near the wall which were too close to the bed to be of any use. All this aside, the biggest problem was the noise coming from adjacent properties and other guests. The bar and hotel directly across the road seem to attract people who scream and shout over the music that is so loud that you can hear the lyrics. This goes on until after 3am. Then the dustbins are emptied so basically no sleep until around 4 am if you're lucky. The management clearly know there is a problem as they leave 2 pairs of earplugs, which frankly are totally useless. Clean sheets, clean everything. Felt at home instantly. The place was easily accessible. All information was straight forward to follow. Received a lovely welcome message which helped the experience.

I love those type of places to stay, cleverly designed, nice, clean and fashionable! Everything I could possibly need was there, it was not too hot, especially considering the weather was toasty. The bed was very comfortable, the bedding was brilliant, the shower had a good pressure. It was extremely easy to check in/check out. I would definitely come back!

The key system was great and worked well we had a slight problem with not having a room number but a quick phone call sorted this out just fine. Lots of positives, great location, unique decor and generally good rooms. We had two rooms first was good but looked like it hadn’t been kept on top of cleaning wise. The other room did have flaking paint and looked tired, there were complementary cups which had old paper in and lots of dust. The shower was good although in need of some attention as when someone in another room showers it starts dripping plus rust on the handles . The big problem though was the noise. We were there on a Monday with the jazz club opposite closed but still most of night we were on and off with lots of loud noise from outside. This is not anyones fault but it was bad and I can’t imagine what a weekend would be like. Overall pretty good, without the loud noise I would say a 5 with minor issues. Obviously if you plan to be out all night then fantastic ignore the noise bit.
