We were visiting the area from our home in Belgium and the Botany Bay Hotel restaurant was recommended to us. It proved to be an excellent recommendation as both the food and service were top quality. The resto is set in a wonderful part of this very pleasant part of the England and the good news is that the cuisine is just as impressive as the setting. The menu changes with the seasons so as to ensure only the freshest and most seasonal of products are used and this is evident in the very tasty and nourishing dishes. These range from the popular fish and chip to whole baked bream, 30-day dry-aged rib eye and confit duck and Belgium waffle. The starters are equally satisfying and include crispy fried squid, goat's cheese and glazed BBQ and buttermilk chicken wings. To round off a great meal there is a fantastic choice of desserts including a Kentish cheese board, vanilla cream brulee and strawberry and cherry Eton mess. There is also a very nice selection of beers and wines and, considering the excellent quality, the prices are very reasonable indeed. There are great views of the bay and the service is friendly and super efficient. I and we would have no hesitation in also recommending this fab place to anyone who finds themselves in this lovely bit of Kent.
