What a wonderful stay at the Coach House, room 29 was the best room loved everything about it and quiet too. Will defo stay again. Have stayed at all Farmcombe hotels and nothing but praise for them all. Enjoyed my birthday stay. The staff are so pleasant and obliging and a special shout to Rachel at breakfast, a real asset, didn't need to ask for anything she checked everything. Thank you all once again.

We are at the restaurant for the second time this year - FANTASTIC!!!! Food, staff, location - just everything about it!!! This is my favourite place to eat and just relax!! I bought my 2 spaniels with me and the staff provided 2 beds and some water bowls! I honestly cannot rate this place high enough!!! Cannot wait to come back - thank you!!!

We eventually managed to park up to go into reception as the car park at the top and in front of the main entrance was absolutely full. So it is either VERY popular at 3pm or have a lot of staff ! Check-in was OK in a nice seated lounge. Everybody – staffwise - with laptops seemingly surgically attached to them !! Room was at the bottom of the area in a large ‘block’ called the Stables. It has another car park and plenty of room (just a couple of hundred metres below the main building). Comfortable room and no problems. Corridor doors which do not slam shut which is good. Reception/restaurant/bar from here is a short easy walk away although quite a few steps (you can walk up/down the small access road). But easy none-the-less. And it is lit at night. So we had no problems at all. As it was only after 3pm and relatively early we went out for a walk into the nearby village and upon return sat in the lounge which is away from the bar and had a drink – or two. We had a £20 card included which allowed use of a wine dispenser (new one to me) BUT wines were £13/£15 per glass. And so with 2 people you could not use the card for the 2 drinks. A really nice waiter came to our aid and topped up the card somehow to allow 2 £13 glasses to be ‘bought’. So that was good service. Lounge service was good-ish (really nice chap) but slow (and I do mean sloooow). Likely because of the ‘distance’ to the bar and perhaps interrupted by other guests along the way who might need help/attention. Although I did go to the bar area to see what the delay was and there was just one barman. At dinner we were greeted and immediately asked if anyone had any allergies etc and one of us stated that she could not eat cheese. All good and so we were taken into the restaurant and seated. Menu nice (it is expensive. 4 slices of bread £12 – yes £3 per slice). Starters all good, crab tart, gambas prawns, scotch egg. Then mains arrived and, oh no, one had lots of cheese on it (when the menu description did not include cheese and the original waiting staff asked and were told that one of us could not eat cheese). So this is bad. Staff are not talking to each other in the restaurant/kitchen. It seems the original enquiry about allergies was just – maybe – box ticking as someone obviously did not take any notice at all. And then that is a real dilemma. It ruins the meal because what do you do ? Wait for an alternative dish to be made and let yours all go cold (or let the kitchen put them under a hot lamp or in an oven which is not ideal for the food)? Or eat yours and then the other diner watches you and then eats theirs on their own. It really is a lose v lose situation. Our diner chose not to have any main at all. Desserts all nice. Although……£17 for a few slices of cheese is more than heavy. And then a 10% service charge added on to add insult to injury. But the diner with no main and almost a cheese accident wasn’t charged for the starter or dessert. So back to the bar and

We stayed in The Lancaster with a family of 4 and a Labrador for one night during the Easter holidays. Our first and last impressions were very positive. This is a lovely place with warm welcoming staff and the dog was made to feel really at home! We had lunch in the bar which was all very fresh and tasty. I wanted to eat in the bar at night too as we didn’t want to leave the dog in our room but the menu is small and limited pretty much to pizza. That disappointed me and if we’d have stayed for longer we’d have had to have travelled out of the Estate which I didn’t fancy. We settled for room service at the kids request! The room was nice and spacious and had everything we needed. The Boot room was great and some of the walks (whilst waterlogged) were fabulous. Even the kids were kept interested which is no easy feat. We will return but wouldn’t stay for longer than a couple of days as whilst the restaurant (Hook) looks good the limited menus would become problematic for us - liking a drink and not wanting to drive. I booked this following a Sunday Times recommendation and loved our short stay. Thanks to all the staff who made our trip that little bit more special.

We were really excited to stay at The Fish, after hearing such rave reviews about it, but unfortunately it really didn't live up to expectation. It lacked a certain level of luxury, and we left feeling it was very overpriced for the experience you receive. The hotel wants to give off a very relaxed & laid back feeling, which at times is great, but is frustrating when you are looking for staff to check you in, or take your food/drink order and no one is around. We stayed in the Coach House room because we had our dog with us, which was dark & basic. The pillows were really flat and the furniture was uncomfortable. There were no windows (apart from the main door), and it lacked basic amenities (no iron/ironing board, no soap in the dispenser, no toilet brush, the tea-bags weren't replenished, no smart TV). We tried to call reception & room service, but no one answered either line. You could hear the rooms upstairs, talking and walking around in the evening, and it lacked a sense of privacy. We were really looking forward to eating in the restaurants, but again felt quite disappointed. The service in the bar/restaurant is really slow. We waited an hour and a half for a pizza, and had to ask the staff on more than one occasion to clear our table. We were served a desert before our main, and we had to send our cooked breakfast back because it was cold. It generally felt that there was a real lack of experience amongst the waiting staff. For the price they charge, we expected much better service & comfort. On the plus side, it's very dog friendly if you're bringing your pet, and it's only a short drive into nice pubs/restaurants in Broadway.

Almost perfect doggie hotel. Outdoor, heated shower bath for dogs, wellies to use, plenty of outdoor for dogs off lead, you can eat with your dogs next to you, you can drink and lounge outdoors woth heaters and dogs can sit next to you. Bedrooms suites are perfect with fridges, tea and coffee, plenty of space, perfect. However: check in took 25 minutes as the system kept crashing, normal standard bedrooms have only chromecast internet tv which does not work, so only freeview tv: just get normal internet smart tv's, and a fridge please in the standard doubles. Dining: amazing pizzas but please add burgers too as its too tiny a main menu and not everyone likes pizza, please add burgers. The hook restaurant: it was a LOT better 2 years ago, larger main menu and everything on it was amazing wheres this time, dinner took over an hour to arrive with no apologies or notification in a very hot woodburning stove room with a dog to keep happy. No drinks offered as apology, no warning given when we ordered. We had two steaks (excellent) a salmon with mash and massaman fish curry which was not good. The curry was powdery in flavour and lacked coconut so tasted like a packet suae of curry with yet more salmon on top. Dissapointing given how much we enjoyed it 2 years ago. So overall: the most perfect getaway with dog to unwind and chill even though it costs the earth in drink prices, jist do not eat at the hook and go for a lovely pub lunch instead.

Saturday 6pm dinner - despite the robotic nature the greeting and initial service I couldn't fault it. Always interesting to see a venue training staff whilst guests arrive but the food was tasty; the confit duck leg cassoulet presentation was poor; however the Massaman fish curry was delicious. Sadly once we had our main course we didnt see our assigned waitress again and I had to get up to ask for the bill and then again to eventually pay. Then to really spoil the end of the evening our coats that had been taken on arrival; no body was available to search through hundreds of coats so we were forced to do it ourselves. The distasteful look on the face of the waiter when we asked if he could help made us think we shouldn't have asked. Then the car park being a dark venue didn't make it easy to manoeuvre and leave ... Unfortunately - we shall not return better service at other local venues.

Such an unpretentious yet luxury place to spend a few days, where all the small touches make all the difference. Dogs looked after so well - from sausages at breakfast, and an agility course to try to beds for sitting beside you at dinner - the well stocked mini bar, an amazing double bath experience on our treehouse balcony, 'rental' boots for the muddy walk to Broadway, stunning food, friendly staff, It isn't the cheapest... but 'you get what you pay for' and we will be back for sure!

Fabulous stay at Fish. I read some of the negative reviews to be prepared but fortunately our experience was great. From someone who always looks for slip ups this is a high accolade! 🙄 You must always think about value v quality v service and Fish hits every point in my book. The stand out member of the team was Heather! What a gem, don’t ever loose this lady, she is one of your greatest assets! Saying that, all the staff were great, very helpful, very smiley and professional.
