The food was 5 out of 5 delicious the service was 0 out of 0 terrible, the front of house staff should be trained that they should welcome ALL customers with a smile it goes a very long way not just for locals, but pushing the menu to you and not telling you where to sit or when to order is not on, when you ask for the Cruet they don’t say What.! and never get offered mustard, sauce or anything. You have no idea who the customer might be. We may have been tourists from Cornwall but we know how to treat our visitors, they need to take a leaf out of The White Rabbits book, they have it spot on perfect! Holiday here every year, but will not return to The Filly

My husband and I stopped off at the filley inn at the end of a wonderful stay in the new forest. We decided to stop for lunch. With hindsight I wished we had walked back out after our initial contact with a member of staff. The greeting inside does not match the friendly welcome board at the front door. When we enquired if they had a table for two the response was you can’t have a roast dinner; you can get a snack or perhaps there are a couple of mains left. This was at 2.20, I grant you after the rush of lunch. As we had not intended to have a roast said okay; we were then shown to a dark unfriendly looking bar area. When we ordered our food we asked for ketchup; the waitress fetched over a small bottle with approx a table spoon of ketchup in it. I said oh that won’t be enough can we have some more please? She responded that they didn’t have any more!! We found this hard to believe but felt that she just could not be bothered. Her manner was so unfriendly and uninterested. We paid £17 for our very average fish and chips and left as quickly as we could. As we are returning to the NF later in the year, my husband said make sure you make a note so we know never to come back. Perhaps we caught them on a bad day! Who knows. We will not be returning to find out.

The Filly Inn provides everything you could want from an overnight stay: huge comfy bed, tasteful decor, lovely bathroom complete with upmarket toiletries, freshly baked cookies, delicious cooked breakfast, cosy pub to snuggle up in when it rains, and friendly staff. It is on a busy A road so you do get road noise if you sleep with the window open, but the vast array of goodies that are thoughtfully provided includes ear plugs, so this didn't trouble us. We would definitely stay again - thank you.

Great food and friendly staff. The room was cosy, comfortable and clean. However in mid January we were expecting the log fire to be on to keep us warm but it wasn’t which meant the bar and restaurant were pretty chilly!

Without a word of a lie this is very probably THE very best Sunday Roast in the New Forest! Absolutely couldn’t fault this, we both had the short rib roast beef with all the usual trimmings and with sides of cauliflower cheese and red cabbage. Everything was served pretty quickly, service was friendly and efficient, the food was hot and wonderfully flavoursome, nothing not to love! Dont hesitate, just book and go!!

Lunched here after a New Forest walk. Excellent pub and the food was definitely a cut above the average showing some welcome flair. London Pride is always a plus for me. Service friendly and efficient. Already booked a table for a couple of weeks time.

Lovely stay with our toddler - great service from the staff, room nice and downstairs great for a bite to eat. Nice breakfast

Such good food. My Angus steak was exquisite. Superbly cooked! My partners fish and chips also looked lush. Highly recommend the Filly. The staff are also super nice and cannot do enough for you. Brilliant stuff.

The four night stay was fabulous will recommend it to friends and family, the staff were great.
