We stayed here last year & lobed it & booked straight away for this years birthdays. What a change in a year ! We booked the same rooms as last year which were lovely & in the separate part away from the cottage & also used the gin bar . We were informed a few weeks before our 4 night break these rooms were no longer available & we had 2 rooms in the main building itself which was fine, we were happy enough with that. Our room was a historical double , lovely cosy room etc no problem till we encountered the same problem as other TA reviews, the heat from the shower it was scalding hot, a sign told you how to turn it down, nothing worked, I got out & fetched the lady who had shown ys to our rooms she tried but to no avail. She said the plumber would come the next day good job our friends in the next rooms shower worked !! Next morning same problem, the plumber did come out needed a part he couldn't get. Really. So we were there for 4 nights with a shower that didn't work properly and apparently now they only have 4 rooms in the main building so no room to move to as they were fully booked. This is obviously an ongoing problem so why hadn't it been sorted. Really not good enough. The gin bar as such is no longer there would have been nice to be told in advance we were looking forward to the gin tasting again. The breakfast was lovely as was the staff in the tearooms which is now independently run. Thank you for all your help. Everything seems now to need some TLC , Shane now it looks like we need to find somewhere else to stay.

We had booked a Groupon afternoon tea and it was lovely. I am vegan and my friend vegetarian and the food was the best we have ever had at any afternoon tea we have been to before. Nice welcoming staff and great surroundings. Would 100% recommend this establishment.

Myself and husband were looking forward to staying for one evening. When we arrived there was another couple already there who were complaining about being given the wrong room and a lady explaining that they would have to email the office to change rooms. I thought that was a very strange answer, surely the room should have been sorted out immediately. We were then shown our room which was very cosy. It wasn’t until we were about to start getting ready to go out that my husband realised that the shower was too hot and you could not turn it down, no matter what he did. He is a plumber by trade but as we were on a night away unfortunately did not have his tools with him. It ruined an otherwise lovely break as just had to make do with a wash in the sink which is not ideal. There was no one on site to sort the situation out. The breakfast was good and staff lovely but would not stay again

Thatched Cottage Hotel is truly blessed within the beautiful New Forest a 5 minute stroll to Brockenhurst village. Owners Tina and Nick made our stay very special in their stunning cottage! Charlie my cocker spaniel felt the love too. We highly recommend a stay!

Quaint cottage and staff were polite. The room we stayed in was nice and bright. There was a very bad damp problem in the en suite especially above the shower, not just on the ceiling but the shower sealant was all black and the bottom of the shower door had not even been cleaned of all the mould. The shower was very powerful and water hot. Skirting of the bedroom was missing exposing the gap between floor and ceiling. Although there was radiator heating the thermostat was loose and difficult to tell which way to turn it to increase. The room felt warm but the floor, although it looked pretty, was absolutely stone cold. The windows close, paint peeling and look grubby. The curtains were badly hung and dragged on the floor so we’re dirty. There was a wardrobe which had the most ridiculous glass panels stuck to the front doors the type that would be fitting of a circus where the reflection made you look very short and twice as wide. On inside of the wardrobe door were 4 mirror tiles butted together to be a vertical rectangular shape. The bedside cabinets and sideboard have had no protection on the tops and are badly water stained. Bed was fantastically comfy and clean. Kettle was placed under the wall mounted tv!! Breakfast was fabulous, but the small breakfast room leads to outdoors and so when people used the door the cold came in and food cooled. Expensive b&b for what was on offer.

Best ever afternoon tea. Simples. Great selection of sandwiches, cakes and a great setting. Staff attentive and explained everything. Would thoroughly recommend. Was able to park directly outside but is a small walk from Brockenhurst train station.

Property was in the heart of the New Forest, convenient for other towns/villages/beaches we visited, forest walks close by. Room and ensuite were comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was excellent, many choices. Staff friendly and accommodating. Pub next door served excellent evening meals. Would definitely recommend.

Staff were nice, eggs royale brekkie superb, but you can hear the guests upstairs talk, the shower didn’t work until I fixed it, and they turn the heating off during the night so I woke up freezing each one of the three nights I stayed. It could be a nice hotel, but isn’t yet
