The picture on the website is for a front room. It cost us $190 for Thursday Sunday and Monday and $198 for Friday and Saturday nights. It's right on Lygon Street which is very noisy with traffic. The room had a small balcony. Curiously there's no hotel chain represented in Carlton, but having stayed at the Clocktower (which is VERY basic) we opted for this property. It does have a small lift but you walk through the carpark, past boxes and bits of old furniture, rubbish bins etc. to get to it. The room itself was quite big, with a separate bathroom (very small shower) and kitchenette area. It was clean and the towels were good, toilet paper very cheap and thin, always a worry. The air conditioner in our room stopped working the night before we left, and the bathroom door handle became very loose as a screw fell out of it. Lygon St itself looks sad, with many restaurants and shops up for lease or closed permanently, thanks to Covid. For nearly a thousand dollars for 5 nights, we will not be staying here again.

The staff were not following COVID protocols. None wore masks. Day manager actually spoke to us with mask on chin and AROUND the safety barrier. One pen used for everything by everyone. Night manager & staff as well as other guests were all maskless. We were not asked to show proof of our vaccination status. Inspired ZERO confidence that they were actually sanitising anything. My partner also felt unsafe as there were a lot of people loitering around the building. The room was clean and tidy. Located excellently for the event we were attending. Hot water worked, loved the choice of flooring. That was all. The room offered only one single bar of soap. No shower gel, shampoo or any extra toiletries as is expected from even the most basic accomodation you can stay in anywhere else. I have stayed in youth hostels in the outback and even they offered more than a tiny bar of soap. There was no indications of any extra services offered or being available. There were no extra pillows or blankets available in the room. One very flat pillow per person and a thin doona only. The pillows were so low that I could not sleep on it and when I asked for another pillow from the night manager I was met with rudeness. He finally gave me an old, dirty pillow with no pillow case (see photos). When I asked for a pillow case he acted like I was being ridiculous. We slept badly as the bed was very hard. Actually went home and slept as we were so tired from the uncomfortable bed. Upon checkout we got stuck in the lift as the door to the G floor would not open. We finally called for help using the phone but even though the front desk manager answered and said he would be with us immediately he was not. We finally left by going back to our floor and using the fire escape to exit via the basement parking. He then told us he couldn’t hear what we were saying on the phone so basically ignored us, and then gave some rubbish excuse about the one elevator being an old one that was not for guests. Basically if we had not exited the way we did we would have been stuck in the elevator for hours being ignored. There was no signage indicating anywhere that one of the two lifts was not for guests, and if the lift was not for guests you would think it would be clearly marked so.

It was great staying at Milano Service apartment. It was very clean and location is perfect. Next door is Aldi so we can do a little shopping i.e. buying juice etc.
I have immunodeficiency health issue which affecting both my nerve and skin that I have to be careful with using towels etc hence I tend to bring my own towels everywhere to keep my own hygiene. I was able to sleep well at Milano service apartment. We were given room 2501 and its a 2 bedrooms apartment but the other bedroom is locked as we only booked for 1 bedroom. I paid additional $28 car park charges which is better for my car as finding a parking spot in CBD is a nightmare.
The Wifi speed is fast and enabled me to do my daily work through out the day.
There was only 1 thing that the room service keeping forgot to do. They didnt replenish the toilet rolls as there was barely 1 roll left on the roll hanger and when we checked underneath sink, there was no spare toilet roll.
So we have had to use tissue boxes and opened a new one from underneath the sink.
Overall, THANK YOU MILANO'S team for allowing us to have enjoyable couple nights at your place.

Space is the first hostel of my trip and it’s set the bar pretty high! Staff are lovely, everywhere was always super clean, beds are comfy, towels are provided and you can even grab a fresh one every day if you wish. Location is great, would recommend the Queen Victoria Market for something to do and “pizza pizza pizza” was lush. There’s nothing “on” as such at the hostel but this didn’t bother us. The only thing that would be good is some extra fridges as they were packed full every day and it was hard to put your own food in anywhere. Would definitely come back.

A brand new hotel is always good to experience - fresh rooms and public areas. Great staff throughout. Excellent coffee in lobby. Great location with awesome bars and restaurants close by. My only negative is “city view” rooms have a city view when standing up - but when sitting down or in bed the glass has privacy screen as lots of other buildings around.

Yes, the room is a little dated but it's very well priced so not an issue. Booked the room via booking.com ... but first rang the lodge to see if they could match the rate so they'd get all the income. However, they wouldn't ... go figure. Stayed five nights at the last minute (husband suddenly in hospital). No weddings on so parking was easy. Gardens are quite lovely and at night they're very pretty with fairy lights. I was really comfortable, felt safe, had plenty of space to move and put my gear, car park right outside, quiet spot (amazingly) and good snoozy bed. Loved being able to watch TV from a sofa (rather than a bed) and I used the desk to draw or use my laptop. Also had a spacious bench to make breakfast or snacks. Getting in and out of the motel onto the main road was easy (school hols so roads are much less crowded). It's a solid half hour walk to the nearest train station and a pleasant (although somewhat noisy) stroll. There's also a bus along Middleborough Rd going to Box Hill station which would be worth looking at . However I worked out where to park close by Laburnum station without paying, so was relatively easy to get into the city and back without needing to take out a parking mortgage. Reception staff pleasant. Didn't use breakfast facilities, air conditioning or wifi, not that I was provided with a password. Every time I needed access, it was after reception closed so gave up. Definitely stay here again when we need accommodation in the east. Was very happy. Keep your expectations realistic and you'll be fine.

TTONGSHANGThe location of the hotel is only one street away from the downtown area. At night, it feels very different. There are a lot less pedestrians on the road in front of the motel. But the benefit is relatively quiet. The parking in the yard is free, enough parking, breakfast is not available. The facilities are quite comprehensive and they are old. The little brother at the reception actually said a few simple Chinese.
PPaul MWe booked in to the hotel as it looked to be close to the City but also specialty fabric stores on Sydney Rd. Turned out to be a great spot, with close access to Trams & Trains and onsite free parking. The room we had for two of us was spacious and clean. Looked to be recently renovated with a comfy bed and huge wall mounted TV. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We ended up staying there twice over the course of our trip after an interlude at another motel. A great find!
DDangledoosFilthy place to stay, looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. Stayed here for a well needed holiday but got a holiday from hell. As soon as you walk into the foyer the place has a musky smell, when going into the room it seemed nice at first look. After being in there for 10 mins you start getting effected by the dust in the air not to mention trying to sleep in the bed, it feels like sleeping on a slab of cement. We rented a queen room for 7 nights, we used the bunks that were included in our room just shut off by a door as these were softer. We only stayed 2 nights but that was enough. The dust was that thick in the room that you could physically see it floating in the room like snow falling. My partner spent the second night in the car as it was playing up his sinuses to the point where he felt he couldn't breath, also the swipe card for the room deactivated itself to add to everything else that night. If we could have left the second night we would have but had to talk about getting a refund. When speaking to hotels.com they said thwy would have to talk to the reception to find out what was going on and if hey would refund. When they tried to call the reception phones they were apparently not working, seemed very convenient considering she was picking it up in front of me and saying it was working. We were told by hotels.com to leave and they would try calling reception again later to sort out the refund. Before we left we were asked to show them what the problem was so went up and show them all the dust and filth. They said they didn't know about this and that it must be the cleaners cutting corners. I feel this hard to believe since it is so dirty and looks like it hasn't been cleaned for ages. After we left I got a call from the receptionist to ask if we had used the bunks, I explained yes and the reason why but he told me that wasn't part of the price and it would cost more to clean it. In the end they only wanted to refund us for 3 nights. thanks to hotels.com they made up the difference. Sorry about the rant but I don't want anyone else's to have a holiday from hell like this again.
