I stayed here for one night when in Reigate on business. First impressions of the building are impressive but some aspects were disappointing for the £250 price tag. The hotel is set in a peaceful location, with good car parking and a friendly welcome on reception. My room was comfortable enough, although the bathroom was cramped and poorly lit, with no space to put toiletries, wash bag etc. There were a few ******* - dirty kettle with old water left in it, dirty teaspoons, lack of power sockets at the “desk” without unplugging the lamp or kettle - but my main gripe was the continuous noise and vibration from a door being allowed to slam shut directly beneath my room. It looked like it was the door from the lobby into the bar serving area that was the problem. Maybe fitting it with a soft closing mechanism would solve the problem? As it was, it was frequent and annoying all evening. On the positive side, the food in the bar was very good, as was the service, and once the bar door stopped banging, I had a decent sleep in a comfortable bed. Breakfast was a tad disappointing for the price paid - service was okay but the buffet offering wasn’t what I was expecting in terms of quality or quantity - bog standard sliced white or brown bread? The room was also soulless, with only half of it set for breakfast and lacking in any atmosphere. Maybe have some low music in the background? All in all, a mixed bag. This is a lovely building in a peaceful location, with friendly staff and a decent food offering. However, for the £250 price, I’d expected more from the quality touches.
