Bunratty Castle Hotel

I would never ever stay at this hotel again, the room was very sub standard, the air con didn’t work,it was during July and the room was like a sweat box, the staff were not very interested and left a lot to be desired,I would put this down to bad management, there are cheaper and far better hotels nearby and I would not recommend this hotel

While this is a nice hotel, our stay from the beginning was not quite what we had hoped. We arrived later than we had expected, and were given the impression that we were a more of an inconvenience than welcome. The room, was a bit on the smaller side and was extremely warm and stuffy (we were there during a heatwave) making it difficult to sleep. Breakfast was another awkward experience as the staff was not warm or engaging. We don't expect a conversation, but warm smile and eye contact can go a long way.

This is a very bad hotel run by inexperienced staff, the air conditioning wasn’t working but they insisted it was, we had a very uncomfortable stay, plus it wasn’t cheap, we could have got hotels close by for half the price but opted for Bunratty castle hotel as it offered air conditioning, it didn’t fulfill on their promise.

The friendliness and efficiency of the staff we met here made our stay. Efficient, attentive and had a bit of banter so good fun too. Facilities basic (in our room) but clean, comfortable and well presented.

Stayed here a few nights on business; found the hotel to be lovely and quiet. The room was clean and comfortable - the bed was huge - and would happily return for another stay next time I have to visit. Special mention to Mary from the restaurant front of house who was really helpful and accommodating while we were there.

We were supposed to stay at this hotel in June 2021 but due to unforeseen circumstances we were unable to, and ended up having to cancel outside the seven day cancellation period. I found Christina the manager very understanding and professional to deal with and because of the lovely customer service we received we are very much looking forward to staying at this hotel in the near future.

We went to the Medieval Dinner Banquet and we couldn't be any unhappier. It was terrible and unsafe in every possible way.Squeezed like sardines and not able to even eat the food we were served. From a health and safety, fire hazard and COVID-19 point of view , it was absolutely digraceful- a tragedy waiting to happen. We were crammed up, invading any idea of personal space just because the place was "overbooked" and they didn't have any other choice but to cram us like sheep. When I explained the manager that there was no way 4 people were going to fit in a space of not even 2 people, I was told " there is nothing I can do. My boss won't understand that and I can't do anything". The temperature in the room was over 35 degrees. No ventilation whatsoever and it was only towards the end of the evening they opened a door , which happened to be the door that we were supposed to exit through. I have never ever in my life seen anything as bad as this. Even the water we were given was warm. Absolutely disgraceful for a place that has a reputation to just cram over 200 people in the space that was supposed to hold not even half of that. I understand everyone wants to make a profit as quickly as possible, but this is beyond anyone's nightmare of how an evening could turn out. We didn't even have space to eat. I asked for a chair as I was getting claustrophobic and my husband couldn't even catch his breath and we were told there's none and no space was available to put any additional chairs. To have spent 300e for this is the biggest mistake ever. The organisers should be ashamed of themselves. No customer service on behalf of the evening manager and absolutely no understanding. Nothing. Just chat back and point blank refusal. Blaming someone else that was in charge of organising the sitting. I am a medical professional and never ever have I felt so unsafe, uncomfortable and humiliated in my own life. I hope people learn from my experience and avoid this as much as possible until these kind of dangerous situations get some sort of resolution. Nothing would ever convince me to go back here. Ever. Shameful and humiliating.

I’m going to keep this one short. Avoid at all costs. Rude rude rude reception. I think they’ve forgotten that they’re dealing with the public. I’d rather stay anywhere else than this place. It was like this from the moment we walked in. Breakfast was rotten and the room smelt damp as well. I literally felt I threw my money away. Had to book another few days holiday as I felt I was cheated of a break. Avoid at all costs

Thank you Noel and staff for a really nice dinner so relaxing and homely we will be coming again exceptional service, Maria and Bernard . Booked the restaurant again for my husband's 60th birthday party later this year. Top class
